I agree about sandals. I bought the bedrocks 75$, and I'm really happy with this, I wanted sandals to go outside, in rocks and dust, and the sole is bombproof, I feel safe enough. You can also print the sole to chose the best size, there's also an adjustment guide.
But if it's just for walking on tarmac or really light sandals, the Xero shoes seems to be a good option too :)

I imagine both are pretty good! The Xero Z-Trails are designed for trail running/hiking etc so I'd hope they'd take more or less anything I'm likely to throw at them on a bike packing tour! The reviews seem to support that claim, plus I can pay £ and get them shipped from within Europe which is handy.
Is that a stock/marketing photo? Or your own?
Look similar to the Xero shoes but a lot more spendy!
If those xero shoes are all they’re cracked up to be they’d be ideal. Sandals do seem like a good choice for both airing out of the feet the ability to just clip/tie/strap them to anything else on the bike and not worry about them getting wet etc.
