Roadie etiquette is to run the qr nds and lever forward (into the triangle) so a following rider won’t open the level with their front wheel (as they put their wheel nds to avoid the rear mech).
None of that matters on most disk bikes, so you just want the lever where you can get purchase without getting hot and where it won’t be opened by a tree branch or something.
