I'm looking forward to Liege now, should be some good riders who are prepared to shake it up from further out to make it a more interesting race. Clearly Valverde will start as the favourite, but other teams will take heart from today and have noticed that he can be isolated.

Shame to see Dan Martin so far off the pace today. Not sure what happened. His team were working to get him back in which suggests he wasn’t totally gone.

Sick as a dog today so stayed home and got to watch it live. Despite napping a bit towards the end it was a fantastic race. Great to see Tao putting in some attacks. I didn’t want QS to win but did want Alaphilippe so happy enough.

Alaphilippe’s little beard is dreadful. Someone tell him he isn’t Pantani.
