It must be a west coast thing. I would say a pacific northwest thing but as a Northern Californian I am placist against anyone south of Petaluma even though I currently live in SF.
Also I am not even sure the beautiful place I am from counts as pacific northwest.
Yesterday morning a drop of "water" from some of the grossest pools of water SF has to offer (6th and Market if you know the area) flung off of my tire and landed in my eye. I shockingly did not get pink eye, but should probably run the full battery of tests.
Then, later at the train station, somebody had overturned a disposal box of old heroin syringes outside onto the sidewalk. There were like a hundred of them just kind of scattered about. I almost rode over them, then I almost stepped in them, then I lost my balance and almost fell into them. Luckily there are only a few, well documented, places where almost counts.
They need to start making needles out of something that biodegrades or something. Like "use it a couple of times and then it melts." My friend found a couple stuck in her sweater after doing laundry at the local sketchy laundry.
