  • Bike looks cleaner than normal, have you cleaned it or has some of the mud fallen off in the warm spell we've been having?

  • Yesterday morning a drop of "water" from some of the grossest pools of water SF has to offer (6th and Market if you know the area) flung off of my tire and landed in my eye. I shockingly did not get pink eye, but should probably run the full battery of tests.

Then, later at the train station, somebody had overturned a disposal box of old heroin syringes outside onto the sidewalk. There were like a hundred of them just kind of scattered about. I almost rode over them, then I almost stepped in them, then I lost my balance and almost fell into them. Luckily there are only a few, well documented, places where almost counts.

They need to start making needles out of something that biodegrades or something. Like "use it a couple of times and then it melts." My friend found a couple stuck in her sweater after doing laundry at the local sketchy laundry.

  • Doing a lot of needle dodging here in Vancouver, too.

  • Sacrilege. You never wash the Roubaix-winning bike.

  • It must be a west coast thing. I would say a pacific northwest thing but as a Northern Californian I am placist against anyone south of Petaluma even though I currently live in SF.

Also I am not even sure the beautiful place I am from counts as pacific northwest.

  • I've been here a year now (moved from London) and still can't quite get over the street homelessness and associated drug use. Never seen anything like it.

  • Paced by a pack of five lambs, running parallel to the lane in Ipsden this morning. Had to stop and say hello. So cute.
    And, sunshine. Ooof. Commute/11

  • Best commute of the year so far.
Great to see so many people out on their bikes.

  • What a lovely day. 9/10 as the pollution is getting worse

  • Pure lovely out there. Took the offroad route and there is even a dry line appearing through the mud. Heaven to get some woodland fun before work. 10/10.

  • aaaaaaaaaand its too warm

  • If you're going to pass me so close that I could handsling off your wing mirror...
Don't get upset when I handsling off your wing mirror.

  • Saw a few people still wearing down jackets on my way in. I had on a lightweight thin thing and I had a real sweat going so they must have been suffering.

  • Yep, saw one chap with lobster mits on. Bigger gloves than I had when it was -6 plus windchill. People are odd.

  • rolled up jeans and t-shirt/10

  • Hero. It's what God would have wanted.

Many necessary skids today, but wheels and drivetrain are feeling silky smooth.
    Effortless/10

  • I wish my drivetrain shut the fuck up. It was quiet after its wash but the creaking has returned so now my theory is the water got into the loose bit(s) and dampened down the creaking then dried out while at the office and the creak returned.

The annoying thing is I don't have a bench vice so I can't do the stupid lockring up myself. Bike shop visit to tighten one thing is ridic.

I'm going to have another look for a bench vice that I can clamp to my balcony or something.

  • Nice and sunny so had a detour via Norbury park on the way home, might do this more often as riding into the park for the bmx track

Blimey - didn't know that was there. Will take the kids down at the w/e.

  • Commuted from bed to garden. Watching the cat frolic in the grass while I run SQL queries.

    Working remotely is the best.

  • I just have enable my autoresponder while I go for a training ride.

    "No."
    "They're idiots"
    "Not yet"
    "No, just, no"
    "Why?"
    "That's crazy. Don't do it"
    "No no no!"
    "Are you joking?!"

This has passed the hippy-turing test. None of my colleagues can distinguish between me and my bot.

  • Lovely weather has brought out all the idiots on their bikes; so many people not shoulder checking when they decide to move on the cycle highways.
    Still 10/10 commute.

  • Oh yeah if I walk to work (which is sometimes nice when I'm at the office closer to my flat) I've been buzzed nearly every time by some tool on an electric scooter weaving around on the pavement. He regularly overtakes joggers and wears a helmet so he seems to be going at a fair clip but somehow this thing is even quieter than those electric unicycle things that were popular with a particular type of ballbag a couple of years ago, so he'll just blast past me and I'll jump out of my skin.

  • Can you configure one for my work Appel Mail accunt please?

  • The only Apple I'm qualified to work with...

  • 'Out of office' it'll have to be, then :)
