Ouch. What an annoying thing to happen. Hope it doesn't keep you off the bike for too long.

Damn, heal up! If you were riding as a pair I think we may have stopped at the same point for a quick 'comfort break' once the fog lifted

Damn, I might swap my registered club to lfgss

I just joined Audax Australia! Easing back into it with a flat/cycle path 100km in a few weeks then onto the ridiculous gravel shit as the weather turns gross :)

Rode Benjamin Allen's Spring Tonic on Saturday. Managed to keep my time down to something respectable despite sluggish 42mm gravel tyres and being out of shape by getting towed around by a pair of fit TTers, bouncing the first control and fording 300m of flooded road near the finish in order to miss out on a 6km detour.
My rims are full of water and my shoes smell like a badger has died in them now though.

I rode it too, are you planning on doing the series, there is a 400km run by the Kingston Wheelers in May, then a 600km in June
-
• #7633
Yeah, signed up for the 400 but missed out on entry to the 600 (although I am on the waitlist). Might end up doing a perm 600 for the SR series...

I did the Amesbury Amble too, lumbering along near the back of the field. We finally got a Saturday without rain :)

No piccy wics from todays tussle with AWE - my camera melted.
Hard to believe though that I DNFd less than 6week ago due to arctic conditions!
Seriously people - get yourself a brevet for this ride. It was absolutely beautiful today. Don't let the AAA put you off, its such a nice ride on a day like today, you'll forget how many hills there are.
Hard, but worth every pedal stroke, both at 30rpm up, and 170rpm down.

What is AWE?

Got a link? I'm looking for something to ride this Sunday.

Only the best 200 perm out there!

Okay, looks good! Might give it a go.

i've only ever done a Selsdon start. But I do find it a tiny bit easier riding clockwise, ie Edenbridge second control.
Don't know why, probably because it avoids Carters Hill upways and White Lane after 200km. I die everytime between Langton Green and Swanley too, for some reason.
I've only ever ridden it fixed too, so I dunno if it makes a difference geared.

Wonderful, thanks for that, I can pick that up in West Wickham, a short distance from home on Sunday! I do love the Weald.

Some lovely roads that I often train on, but never done that particular route. That'll be a nice summer Sunday ride.
A quick addax novice question - is a perm an audax you can do at any time? If so, what's the entry fee for?
-

Chatting to the organiser of our may audax, and apparently numbers are down on most events near West London this year. I think it's typical for non pbp or lel years. Also there are more in this area now, which is good.

Got all excited, then crushing disappointment.

Yes, beer for the guy who designed the route and does the admin, with a bit for AUK to invest in is long term beer fund

Great stuff, so long as it's being invested in something worthwhile.

One day...

I've been doing his DIYs a bit this year though so it's not all bad news :)
I mentioned this to the missus last night but if I do the 2x400s on the Sat and Sun I'll be too fucked to ride the Chilterns on the Mon.
