Talking of frogs, I have just kicked off the process of transitioning away from them by getting some egg beaters to try. So far so good, need to suss how I go on a longer ride.

Frogs...are they still selling them?

Still rocking frogs here but getting hard to find the bolts for the cleats that have rounded out badly on mine
-

@Howard Not sure. It's really hard to get cleats now. I have to pairs, ride it on my road bike also, and the TI one has just become a tad scratchy. On top of that I just cannot find new cleats for them anymore. I have one more pair of cleats in reserve, but I fear it's the end of the road for the system.
So yeah, that's why I am looking for alternatives, and so far egg beaters have always been mentioned when the word "float" gets thrown around.
And fuck "the rules", I do't want road cleats and shoes. Instead I want the same system on all my bikes.

If the egg beaters work out for me, make me an offer for my pedals and cleats if you want! I've got the posh TI pedals, one pair with TI aftermarket spindles, spare chromoly axles, lots of cleats that I deemed too loose but that might still work for you ... Only, I'll have to ship the lot from Oz.

I’ve got egg beaters on my road bike. Used to use Zeros but CBA now.

Seriously tho someone try these

You first.

The reviews aren’t glowing but if you aren’t MTBing I reckon they’d be a good shout. XTR weight, adjustable float.

Does anyone want a half worn but usable right keep-on-cover (could be the J&L knock off version) I lost the left one last week so am putting a fresh pair on...
Cheers,

Mud and speedplays are not friends. Put your foot down once in mud and that’s it, you’re not clipping back in until you’ve cleaned out your cleats.
That is the point of the Pavé variant.

The Syzr?
I have them on my belt-drive bicycle (matched with Quoc Pham Hardcourt shoes) .. Feels nearly en par with road pedals and shoes. Not quite sure that they'd be suitable for extreme off-road MTB use-- a discipline I know little about and whose gear I neither own nor have practiced with-- but as a "urban" automatic pedal they seem a good choice-- whell.. I selected them :-)
I think one need view them as an alternative to ATACs.Add: I think the main drawback of the Syzr are their retail price. With street prices still floating above £135 / 150 EURO they are a bit (like everything Speedplay) expensive..

Probably a stupid question again but is it possible to run Zeros with 2-bolt mtb shoes? I'm not after an actual pair of mtb shoes but something like the Giro Empire VR90/ Code/ Privateer style shoe? Just something with a chunkier, more durable sole because I'm absolutely sick of crunching around on pebbly gravel and ruining the soles of my Rapha Climbers...
I don't want to have to change pedals though, I like Zeros and I want to be able to swap shoes...
If anyone could recommend a good shoe in that style that takes 3-bolt or 4-bolt (the dream) I'd be grateful!

No chance with 2 bolt. 3 bolt with adapters is possible, so finding some of them with more durable soles is your best bet; most of the 4 bolt options are probably quite similar to your Rapha Climbers

Yeah that's the problem, I'm struggling to find a chunkier 3-bolt... Maybe time to start looking into a set of SYZRs for upcoming gravel/allroad build.

Question about replacement bowties.
I've picked up a used set of ti speedplays and think they are missing this metal piece beneath the bowtie, making it hard to clip in and out. is this in fact part of the bowtie and is missing or part of the pedal body.

I guess it’s technically part of the pedal body, it’s a seperate steel piece that clips in under the bow tie. I put Ti bow ties on mine and took them out and cleaned them

Anyone got a pair of zero pedals going spare? Any colour / metal. Sick of swapping them off the road bike for turbos.
-
• #996
Thanks for the info.
Guessing the kind of part which isn't available separately....
-
• #997
I might have a fairly used pair.
Not sure I'd use them on the road, but fine for turbo.
Send me a PM to remind me to check tonight.

Upon further research I think pedal I bought advertised as a zero is in fact a x series.
-
• #999
Yeah possibly. I don’t have a pair for comparison, I have zeros and my partner has light actions

Looking for a pair of stainless Zero's if anyone has a pair for sale. Not fussed on colour but nothing too wrecked.
They’re 2 bolt mtb cleats. So not the same thing really.
