Have you had a quote to repair your forks?
Basically this all boils down to money so what is your budget to get a working set of forks in your frame? -
• #28
There's a pair of NOS Colnago forks on ebay at the mo!

I haven't had a quote, because the shop I went to (Mercian) pretty much declared them knackered. I know them pretty well so they'd of been upfront with me over them. It's the actual fork legs that have bent, not the steerer or crown.
I think getting them repaired would cost quite a bit because they'd then need re-chroming, which is over £100 just for that.
I can get a set of carbon forks for £120 (Columbus minimal)
Truth be told, I don't have a 'budget' as such for this, just trying to spend as little money on it as I can and get what I want, mainly due to other things in life needing my money!

all noted, if Mercian think they cant straighten them then thats a fair comment. If you bide your time for the money you want to spend to buy carbon, you can get some precisa forks. Measure the steerer tube to make sure you know your length then post on the Colnago Owners group that you are looking (when youre ready) and you’ll be sorted quickly enough

Thanks for your advice :)
I'm already on the Colnago owners group, I spend a good hour each day drooling over the bikes!

I have a set of Force full carbon forks inc the rare stem expander for sale if you're interested?? What steerer length do you need??

So here's the current state...

Ignore the seat post, it's at minimum insertion.
New parts:
. Unbranded carbon post, unbranded carbon forks
. Deda Zero bar and stem
. 23mm Corsa G tyres
. KMC chain
. Not 100% sure the brand of the headset, but I really dislike it, first of it's silver, secondly it's massive, it'll be changedTo be changed:
. Water bottles. I purchased the black water bottles late last year, and I've already bent them before I've even ridden the bike, they are pretty shitty. Do quite fancy 2 of the black Elite bottle cages, with the little bit of bling-bling on them.
. Skewers. Plan is to change the wheels to something roughly 50-60mm and carbon, but until then I'll just replace the skewers.
. Black chainring bolts

There’s no escaping it, your build needs the chromed precisa fork on it. Save your money on skewers, headsets and bottle cages and do what’s right by your master and stick the right fork in it

This is how your bike could look with chromed fork but still keeping your idea of a black deep section rim. My tecnos with different clogs on

Thanks for the info, but really just happy chipping away at changing parts :)
I'd like to get my hands on a set of 1" precisa forks and get the steerer changed to threadless and then re-chromed, maybe a project for the next 6 months.
I'm quite happy with the carbon forks. The previous forks were not original, so no major loss really.
I do use this bike a lot, and I'd like it to perform nicely. Really not keen on 1" quill stems, though they do look cool!

The Carbon looks better
-

You could take a standard precisa fork and then just drop a stem adapter into it. Velo orange do them along with countless others. Then you can ditch this quill stem and have more ability to modify as you would on a modern bike
-
• #41
I've used them in the past and not that keen on them, I'd only put a pair of steel forks on this bike again if they were threadless :)
-
• #42
Stick a request on the owners group, somebody will help you out its not earth shattering money to get a used threadless precisa

A few photos I snapped this morning :)
pls click on the link to view, I shot them in RAW with a high ISO, so they are charmingly noisey.
Bike not 100%, it doesn't have 'that' look that I'm after (yet).
Feeling a skinnier saddle, maybe something like a SLR or Arione, then a seatpost that is quite a bit thicker at the top. Something like a Superzero?
Actually really pleased with the forks, don't think I'll be switching back to steel for quite some time. Geo is perfect and they have that Italian, slim look to them, which I think would fool a lot of people if they had the Colnago logo on them.
This thing is crying out for some 50mm carbon rims on silver spokes and polished hubs...

Lovely stuff! Photos are gorgeous.
-
• #45
Saddle is a bit too far foward ;-)
-
• #46
dunno, amigo. I think a silver campag gruppo would look better.
-
• #47
Looks sound as is. Agree on the seatpost. Arione will look shit. Shallow wheels are current trend, normally laced rear would improve things though
-
• #48
Silver stem, white bartape, carbon seatpost and nicer saddle needed.
-
• #49
I'm just glad there is no gold chain.

Not sure if it’s lens distortion but the hoods look like they’re at different heights
Wow, that looks gorgeous!
Yup, already on the Colnago owners FB page.
It's not so much a problem of finding the forks, it's that I don't want to throw crazy money at some forks sadly.
Getting the current pair repaired wouldn't be worth it sadly :(
