  • Shit I just realised that it was you that @Klar and I ran into at the bus stop at first info!

  • YES!

You both had beautiful bikes. We could see you in the distance when we went through Headcorn and I said to the guys I was riding with "when we catch up I'm gonna say how much I like their bikes" but then we didn't see you again :(

  • That's incredible!
Great ride and a very long day in the saddle.

  • What a magnificent route! Today was one of the best days I've ever had on a bike.

Some great lanes, not many if which I'd been down before. Would loved to have stayed at the steam place a bit longer too. Will have to take the family there.

  • We had a lunch at this place: http://www.vineyardgardencentre.co.uk/tea-shop-sunday-lunches-cream-teas-wine-tasting-cakes-scones-wak

Would recommend, was tempted to have a glass of wine but it was just on the halfway mark ;)

  • Sorry for not saying hi.

  • Well done. Fantastic effort.

  • I feel so fat/unfit. Not sure how I'm going to complete any Audaxes this year.

  • That's some ride, nice one.

  • I'm going to DIY the spiral ride the weekend after next on Sunday starting from Catford. Should be somewhere round 210km riding out and back if anyone fancies joining.

  • Start short and flat. Progress. Simples.

  • My favourite part of Meridian Hills today was after I crossed the M25 after 203km and realised for the first time you still have 10k and Sundridge Lane to tackle.

  • Anyone riding Oasts and Coasts next week? Will be my first 300....bit nervous.

  • No but I've ridden the route over 2 days touring with my partner before. It's lovely and would love to do it again but will have to be as a DIY on the May bank holiday.
The viking coastal trail is ace but be prepared to be slowed down massively if there's lots of people down there!
Look forward to hearing about it.

  • That's good to know, thank you. Looking forward to it

  • I am, it's not one I've ridden before but it's apparently a nice route

  • Have done it previous two years but not around this year. Don't stress, it's pretty straightforward. Just bear in mind it gets very dark on the lanes after Whitstable and some of the road surfaces are bad, so unless you're fast enough to ride the last bit before the sun goes down then I'd have a decent light. Surprisingly large amount of climbing, but that's mostly done with after Dover. The coastal bit is great, particularly the traffic free bits.

  • O great, thanks for the advise.

  • LFGSS storming up the AUK rankings to a very respectable 39th out of 246 clubs registered. Makes us seem almost credible!

  • Added a few more LFGSS points yesterday on the Amesbury Amble... anyone else do it?

  • I did.

  • is anyone getting the train out from waterloo down to poole on may 6th?
what time you looking at arriving if so?

  • DNF'ed, :(
Was so looking forward to my first 300 fixed audax. Just as we were getting out of the fog and into glorious sunny lanes I realised something was wrong with my cleat/pedal. Realized I couldn't unclip, tried forcing the cleat out further to the side and it suddenly gave laterally but still clipped in. I think my toe side then got mashed against the bike/chain/wheel. My immediate thought was that I'd broken my foot in half. Once stopped and having eased my foot out of my still clipped in shoe saw that the one cleat bolt had been stripped/pulled out. Managed to screw both bolts into the front two holes and continue 20km to Basingstoke station mainly along a busy roadkill-strewn A road in the first sunshine I'd seen in what feels like weeks.
    Fractured navicular bone. Just as the weather gets nice );

  • No, must have been my heel side that got mashed. Was very sore whatever it was

  • Yeah, was my first Audax and I had a great time. Managed to finish while it was still light, but the drag from Raynes Park to Walthamstow was pretty grim
