  • Yeah I know sometimes lot of black is dull.
But not visible in photo is grey, silver parts.
I have unfortunately addiction to dark colours and humour
    Cheers @PhilDAS

  • Riding a Pina is very MAMIL so you gotta be quick to pull it off ;)

  • Haha:) @PhilDAS you bastard ;p
No worries knowing myself I will have another bike soon ;)
    Maybe more colourful ;p

  • my bike mojo has been weak since I am not even commuting due to my knee (my third try to get rid of patella tendinitis), but maybe this will help. any opinions on bar-lever transition? anyone knows if ITA HTII BB uses the same spacers as BSA?

    more pics in my thread!

  • Just put R785 hydro brakes on my All City - all seems good but the hoods are really baggy. I understand that you can’t fit new ones without dismantling because the reservoirs make the levers so big. Anyone have any tips for shrinking hoods?

  • I think it's a known issue

  • You definitely can get new hoods on without dismantling, but it does take some effort. I can't quite remember the technique I used, but remember sweating and swearing a bit. The new ones are a slightly different material that doesn't turn baggy, which is nice.

  • Commuter

  • This was on hydro levers? Do you remember which ones you bought?

  • Just an observation on your overall setup, I appreciate you’ve probably got long legs but your saddle looks like it is a very long way back. Have you tried having it further forwards and move your cleats back? This should unload your knee a little and might help relieve your knee discomfort.

Levers look a bit too far down. You’ll probably either be slipping off the front off the front or find you have to have the bars angled up a lot.

Are we looking at the same picture? The saddle is slammed almost all the way forward.

  • Probably. But a combination of a seatpost with setback and what looks like a fairly relaxed angle seat tube puts it a long way back.

  • a long way back

    A whole scobleplank :)

  • The ones you bought off me? I am sorry about that if so.
Try cleaning everything in isopropyl alcohol to stop slippage

  • Yep r685s, I got in touch with mantel who sent me a new set of rubber hoods under warranty, they echoed what I'd read online about Shimano changing the compound. Initially thought I'd have to dismantle the whole thing but just ended up using brute force to pull them on, been fine since. I think I ended up cutting the old ones off first, can't remember...

  • Thanks for the observation. This bike is obviously not fitted and I am quite sure it will not work out with a set back seat post (slack seat tube due to mods). I don't have "knee discomfort", but "stage 3" tendinitis which the lit describes as advanced degeneration of patella tendon (already 5y with active sport phases in between). for what is worth when i ride, i do it with cleats set up in the furthest rear position and KOPS - 79.5 cm saddle height (184 cm w 86 cm inseam).
one of the major factors of parallel inflammation of both knees for the first time was a poor fit on my second fixed gear and my ignorance of the pain (trained through the pain for weeks before eventually i couldn't even walk anymore).

  • The original ones that come with the levers are know to be loose. Replace with these ones which are a different compound, are tighter and have several knobs on the inside which secures it from rotating. In short they fit very nicely

Only thing is that you have to fit them from the handle bar side.

  • Thanks all. I’m reading everywhere that you have to dismantle the cockpit to get them on, but one or two people seem to have gotten away with forcing them over the lever. Worth a go...

They’re your old ones @Hulsroy - working fine other than the hoods though!

  • Ok, good to hear. Still feel bad about it. But I never actually used them myself. Hope you get it sorted.

  • I just made this

  • Sorry to hear that about your knees fella. Glad to see you’re building what looks like is going to be a cool bike though.

  • I've just ordered a new set from SJS and some hand sanitiser. Hopefully I can get it all sorted with some elbow grease.

  • Nutella is a nice touch

  • It goes with everything...
