  • Yeah it was more to find a pair of shoes that are a little bit more walking friendly with Speedplays.

100% correct on the knee stuff above too, I had terrible knee pain for years until I started going to a personal trainer who specialises in strength and conditioning for sports (he's also a lecturer in DKIT here in Ireland for body mechanics so he really knows his stuff) and he said the reason I had knee pain was actually causes by poor hip mobility.

The weirdest bit was when one day I was trying (and failing) to touch my toes during a session and he made me lie on my side while he dug his thumb into my jaw muscle to the point I was in tears. I then stood up and touched my toes with no difficulty whatsoever. Apparently there's some weird muscle memory correlation between tension in your jaw which your body relates to grimacing under pain which if you can release it will increase flexibility.

I'm probably not explaining this correctly but my mind was blown by the result.

  • I don't know for certain, but doubt anyone would make CX/MTB shoes that are natively Speedplay compatible.

The aero/walkable cleats are an improvement in that regard: you won't be going armpit over elbow at least.

Not that you have much of a choice, now they're the only ones they sell.
