Judging a ride based on single photo frame... because none of you lot have ever dropped your head in a TT... right...

to steal from a a twee:
All of these head down riding photos you see from open tts is out of hand really. Ask them and they say “that’s just one moment in an entire race”, whilst true, how come your entire position looks completely optimised and designed around head down position?
Always the same culprits too...

• #17429
Sounds like bullshit to me. Every position looks better with head down because as soon as your head is out of the wind you look faster.
I had my head down at points during Wales because I remembering dribbling over my bars and hissing at myself for being shit.

Quoting from a reply of his further down the tweet.
I am on a slip road exiting a roundabout with 150m + of clear road in front of me. Somehow don’t think I am daft enough to ride down a dual carriageway like that.
Has he ever heard of potholes?
Can't remember if he previously got caught in a twitter storm about head down or the 3cm rule. Probably both!

Looking down is the best place to see potholes :P

Don’t tell him that, I want it.
How much, and can you post?

some great riding at the commonwealth games this morning, Garfoot looked a different class to everyone else, shame about the tooing and froing for Archibald, must have been pretty distracting...

I rode an audax last weekend with a 57yo 12 and 24hr tester. He taught me a lot about pacing and HR zones and had clearly put in loads of miles over winter as he was incredibly strong. Pretty sure we rode the second half faster than the first. Literally could have kept going all day. CSB.
Anyway, I find myself here again looking for some help. I have some clip on 3t aerobars with an OD of 22.2mm.
I'm about to pull the plug on a pair of those Raceware aero bar end plugs that tester linked to a few weeks back but struggling to find what the internal diameter is. My digital callipers are fucked so I can't measure them. Am I likely to need the 19.2mm or the 20.2mm ones? Many thanks -

You can pick between 19 and 20 with a rule, Abom79 reckons you can reliably get within 0.010" which is 0.25mm in the new money. Buy 5 for 30p each, punt out the surplus to other LFGSS users at 50p and profit :)

Seems common sense has deserted me. Time to get out the Disney Princess ruler

Cold hasn't shifted. In fact, it's probably making me feel more meh than a week ago ffs.
Should I drive three hours to race a 25mi on a course that has been rendered not fast due to road works? I keep looking at my chainless bike thinking 'fuck it'. I'm not sure if the stress/effort will make me a faster rider or a slower one.

I know from past experiences that racing while sick only prolongs the illness. You know your own body better than anyone else.
-
• #17448
Yeah, I'm better at knowing when to stop (to be honest I'm too tired and lazy to push through illnesses these days!). I reckon I'll race. It's basically a training race now anyway so it'll give me a chance to test my kit changes, even if I'm not at full power.

No.

That's sealed the deal then. I'll PB for sure now :)
It’s pretty stupid....
Go to wales and ride with your head up and do a 50, go to Cambridge and don’t bother looking and you’ll do a 49....
