You want one of those palm-sized defibs.
-
• #22255
you'd be the cycling equivalent of the motorcyclists who wear the "be polite" hi vis jackets that look like police gear ;)

I hope that slight clunk I heard was the sound of his mirror getting folded in.

Your guess is correct.

Plates? Reported?

But imagine how much beer I could carry...

• #22262
Could do, hadn't considered it as it's just an everyday example of twattery.

Been experimenting with traffic-free commutes for a couple of weeks, adding a few km but taking it easier. It's been absolutely glorious, only maybe 2km with traffic either way, the rest generally lovely paths.

Considered canal path commute but I reckon to avoid the shitheads I'd need to be using it at 5am...

Hmmm. 17?

The one from central manchester out to the velodrome has some nifty 'cyclists dismount' cobbled ramps at the locks, much fun, worth scally dodging for.

I've seen commuters on London canal paths and they seem to think doing 30kph around blind bends is legit. I don't think there's too many physical obstructions just other riders and the 4-across dog walking teams.

I do a bit of canal as part of my route and it's definitely the most stressful bit. There's no "convention" that everyone follows so you have to be awake and alert enough to react to every unfolding scenario.

That's what I found when the missus and I used to roll out for a chilled ride on a weekend. Most people are cool but there's some knobhead racing or there's the bunch of knobheads that won't give you any room. Basically, everyone's a knobhead.
-
• #22271
The only time I find it being stressfree on the canals is when I'm on a boat drinking rum.

I used to ride along the Grand Union to Paddington and gave up because it was not relaxing riding. The Harrow Rd was much less faff and faster to boot.

• #22273
Now that's a commute.

I think this is true of all off-road shared paths. For example I try generally to stick to 'drive on the left' but it mostly feels like I am the only one. Peds right across the path, or peds meandering from left to right as you are about to pass, dogs everywhere.
Still much better than people in several tons of metal close passing, shouting abuse and sometimes trying to kill you.

Another cyclist and I found an ortlieb roller lying in the road by Stockwell tube around midnight yesterday. Tried to hand it in to the station's lost property but as it was found 50m outside they couldn't take it in.
Did some snooping around the contents and messaged 7 strangers on FB. Got some 'u wot m8s' but one very grateful recipient too. Handed it back over yesterday having lugged it and its 2 locks into work.
Can I expect my medal in the post?
That's the group of lousy reprobates. Don't even pay road tax!
