Magura RT6's

  • A pair of magura rt6's came with a TT bike I just purchased - I'm swapping out the aerobars etc for my own so will have to set up the maguras again. I have built up a few road bikes but have zero experience with hydraulic brakes - can I trust myself to do the job or will this have to be done by a LBS??

  • Have a read of this and judge for yourself.

You'd be well advised to remove the brake pads and wheel to avoid the possibility of contamination.

I've had Hope, Shimano and Tektro bleed kits from them and they've all been great.

Check the disc brakes thread if you need more advice.

  • @Scilly.Suffolk Cheers it seems there are quite a few steps but it's otherwise straight forward. Will give it a go!

  • i got these brakes (well the front). have changed bars with them, bled them etc. Its not too difficult to set up again. you will need a new olive, which is a little metal 'o' ring that goes on the end of the hose, as you will need to cut the hose if the hose is threaded through the bars if re installing (CUT HOSE AT CALIPER NOT LEVER).
i found the oil doesnt just spill out when you cut the hose, so if threading them back through the bars is not fiddly you should be alright, and if a little does come out you can just screw inwards the adjuster screw top of the lever.

  • Great thanks. will order some "olives" and give it a go

  • Worked out fine! Hardest part was cabling the tubes thorough an aero bar!
