I'm using a 10sp chain (Shimano 6701 plus a wipperman quicklink).
I've been running the smallest bb axle length I can get away with and the ring on the outer-most position. The crank is a double with the inner tabs filed away. It works great and I enjoy the narrow Q factor.
If you've chosen the right gearing you'll do most of your riding in the middle of the cassette no?

What bike and doing what? I have a NW ring in the outboard position on my CAAD 8 Gossamers (BB30), KMC chain otherwise everything else is standard 105 11 speed and it works flawlessly. My knee is screwed atm so i've been almost permanently cross chaining on the low end of the cassette and i've had no issues what so ever. Probably not doing my chain/cassette many favours mind.
Obviously if you tried this on one of those do it all grown up bikes on a canal path you'll probably die.
What chain line should I be aiming for for 1x10, 130mm spacing? Can hopefully limit the trial and error if I know what to aim for.
Also, is there any logic to having it spaced slightly outboard, towards the gears I will be using more frequently (will be using Nw and clutch RD)
