Doping

  • Surely, if he was doping, which I have no idea about and don't really care, the biggest punishment is the fact that everyone knows you're doping to win some small-time races that don't really have any significance anyway.

I know that amateurs do dope, but is the fact that everyone thinks they're pathetic losers not punishment enough?

Fair enough they should be banned etc. But I think ridicule is the best response.

  • Pretty sure he was reported (by one of them) after attacking Rory Townsend, Rhy Howells etc in the break last year. Apparently they weren't completely convinced by his performance being a likely one either.

  • Problem is ridicule isn’t based on fact but hearsay.
No matter how dubious someone’s performance, you can’t really judge them without proof.

But yes, as the secret pro would say, anyone that is suspected of doping will be talking about and ridden into the gutter.

  • Iceman is his dealer

  • If he's winning races he'll likely be noted for testing anyway.

  • Presumably because you have to keep the vials cold

  • Not really.

Because they've taken a legit win away from someone else. Just because it's a small time race doesn't mean people aren't giving their all to win. I'd hate to bust a gut in a race only for someone to cheat me out of it.

  • But in this case there's no proof yet so it'd be unfortunate if the bloke has just busted a gut all winter and is on form rather than a juicer.

  • I meant once it's been proven.

The very fact that UKAD and WADA are being mentioned in relation to amateur racing shows how pathetic it is.

But I agree, until you can prove someone has cheated, the ridicule is a little unfair.

  • I guess it's because I'm never going to win that I've never thought of it like that.

  • Is that what you say about Valverde?

  • "Alejandro Valverde has been linked by documentary and DNA evidence to the Operación Puerto" not just some whispers in the bunch. He was cheating. This guy is innocent until proven guilty. Alejandro Valverde is guilty.

  • As a mate put it; his performances are without precedent given his age and especially given his level of experience. Very difficult for him to exonerate himself.

  • What if you busted a gut to get top-20, but missed it by a place to a doper?

  • Still, publishing accusations on insta or wherever is daft, especially when gobby blag artists like Cocks for all are involved.

  • UKAD test amateur racing which is good because they've busted people like the Nat 12hr winner a few years ago. I've been tested* after the Welsh 50 Champs, presumably as they focus their testing on top finishers.

    *120 proof :)

  • Take one each, then join the line for torches, keep moving now...

  • My ask from club owners, directeur sportifs, team captains, and fellow riders...

    String him up

  • Also shouldn't it be directeurs sportif?

  • Was just coming to post that. Quelle surprise, given his history.

  • « vrai »

  • Nope. It’s directeurs sportifs.
