A couple hundred pages back when I bought it last summer we had a little contest who could work it out first. They're naval flags, basically just numbers. Stendardo seemed to use it a lot on their watches, the automatic I have has the same thing going on. It's a bit naff but unusual all the same.
This post shows it in its original state before replacing scratched crystal, painting bezel, original hands, spare nato strap etc...
