Hayman is a great example of a rider winning P-R late in a career, but at least he loves the race and rode the shit out of it throughout his career. He also won it in the coolest way possible, in the break all day, sit in with the favourites as they ride across to him, do no work because he's been in the break all day and then mug them in the sprint. Chapeau.

If he wanted all the monuments he should have started earlier. I think the 50k breakaway in Ronde fried his head a bit.

Yup as @Scrabble says. It was the image of the rider laying motionless, not so much the crash. A couple of the other crashes looked nasty, but seeing a person laying still as the moto passed was horrid.

Wiggins has only ever had a British passport, unlike Garfoot or Haussler.

Froome’s parents were British and he had said he’s always considered himself British.

He was an hour behind Sagan, the broom wagon was properly hounding him as we walked back along the carrefoure d'abre. Fair play to him though.

have you every raced cyclocross!? standard practice isn't it? Obviously any difference in performance is entirely down to getting your tyre pressure wrong.

Such a feel good story, and so deeply needed.
