Gilbert came 15th, in the same group as Degenkolb. That's not a bad showing, and I certainly think he can win it. Obviously, he does need more experience.

Yeah but he is a long way into his career, its very late to suddenly decide winning Paris-Roubaix is one of your career goals. When you have only ridden it once before.

Maybe he saw Hayman and thought, fuck it, why not.
(Yes, I know how many rides Hayman has had in PR, that's not my point)

He wants all the monuments.

He's only 35. So another 15 years in him before he's the same age as Valverde.
