Are hubs more consistent?
The hubs will be the dimension Shimano intended, but the issue with rims isn't inconsistent manufacture, it's inconsistent measurement and sometimes unannounced design changes.
can I use hub measurements from the shimano site?
Mostly, but they are not infallible when it comes to transcribing from the manufacturing drawings to the published data
best to wait til I have hubs in hand?
In the end, yes.
So I've taken delivery of a pair of rims (dt r460db) for my first attempt at a wheel build. Hubs (shimano slx m6000) due Monday.
I have read that best practice is to measure both before ordering spokes. Are hubs more consistent? I.e. can I use hub measurements from the shimano site and measure rims to calculate spoke length so I can order today? Or best to wait til I have hubs in hand?
