I'm taking my eldest to FOS.
Might hang him in a 917 flat fan by his feet.

I own a dieselgate affected 1.6 TDI Skoda, i politely declined the "fix" after i read a load of reports and the head technician at the garage had his car bough back off him by Audi because of an irreparable engine fault post fix, along with a whole host of issues reported by others online

I had mine done last year.
Been noticing some odd feeling power delivery in the last couple of months. Dunno if related.

All the emissions stuff will likely be turned off at this time of year due to the cold, id have thought.

I did wonder if it was weather related. At very low throttle, when going over a speedbump there seems to be a sort of lductuation in power as the suspension travels. It's hard to describe. Might be to do with the traction control I suppose. I'm not stressing it.
I also think that the the power at higher throttle and speed is a bit down too, but again hard to tell. Could just be that I am driving the whole family and luggage.
If I was bothered I could put it on a Dyno. Instead I am just involving myself in the class action (apologies for US terminology) against VWG, the lying fraudulent bastards.

This is good news! How much was the total bill?

It was almost 4k but that's including a load of extras, forged pistons, group n rods, race bearings, nitrided crank, cosworth head gaskets, uprated oil pump, group n engine mounts and anti rotation mount, boost solenoid, big silicone intake pipe and catch tank with drain to sump.

Just booked my car into the classic parking at Festival of the Unexceptional at Stowe School in Buckinghamshire in July. Sounds like my kind of show.

how much are you going to be out of pocket with the new work?

Bugger 😢

That looks like a cool show!

I don't really feel like I'm out of pocket now. The shoddy work has been fixed and paid by the CC company.
The other costs are pretty cheap for a full rebuild by a respected engine builder.

All's well that ends (not yet, admittedly) well. We were not too far from my mum's, the car's at the nearest Volvo garage (with mixed warning lights aglow), there was a bottle of bourbon in a cupboard here. Car rental tried to give us a volvo v40 which wouldn't have been great with 4 people + roof box + 3 suitcases so stood my ground and got a mini van in the end. Now off to bed.

A few steps towards getting my Micra back on the road. A new £10 expansiontank instead of the old brittle one. Couldn't be bothered with flushing all the coolant, so made a siphon to empty the old tank.
The screaming power steering was almost fixed with some fresh ATF fluid. Still a bit of whine at full lock. Changed oil and filter.
It's drivable, but a new CV joint or two and a new waterpump plus a fresh belt would suit it.
