The two big fat connectors will be the brakes, the skinnier ones that have grips on the bodies for fingers (to turn them) are in line gear cable adjusters.
Check out the video with the musac that James posted above - shows how to work with the connectors.

I think given the level of questions being asked you are best off visiting your local bike shop to get this resolved.

If you have to ask, maybe taking it to a LBS would be a better idea to give you a peace of mind.

Ok so there are in fact two connectors on each of the four wires running from the levers. Look like they could be a quick unscrew and switch job.
Can anyone confirm if this is possible (and which one of these pics is in fact the brake haha)
