Being a cx purist I would never carry my bike around headtube. I know WVA does it, but it is wrong!
Still, down tube is much better placement for bidons imo.

I can’t get my head around a dt bottle if you shoulder and carry with your arm around the downtube. Do you do something else?

Maybe it depends on the bike frame size etc. But bidons ends up in my armpit when shouldering with on the bidon mounted on DT. For me that is more pleasant than ST bidon as that digs into my backside.

Yeah. Not great. Get that arm around the ht and enjoy the hydration. You don’t know what you’re missing :-)

Adding a piece of rubber tube cable tied to the cage in that position provides almost perfect open beer tin carrying, as sported by my Argentovivo below. I've also added a rear mudguard and switched the stem out for comfort.
My front shifter wasn't working properly ... I found the grease in it had hardened. A little extra lube in the right place sorted it.
Sorry about the scrappy phone pic (Leake Street yesterday).

Waw can it do the job ? 26" to 650B ?

I don't know. There's quite a bit of up and down travel for the brake blocks, but I've not tried. I also have a Direct Curve 5 single brake (see below) which I will fit once I find another one. It is more modular, and you can reverse everything on it so that it pulls from the other side, but I'm not sure whether that would do it either to be honest.

Anybody got any Spotter bars, aka Bontrager SSR VRC 26mm, or similar compact drops for sale? 25.4 is okay too. Gotta swap stem anyways.

Got rid of the CK headset and went for a more conservative Record, new stem as well.

Change that Max Flite to a regular one and you got a real winner. That paint is just awesome.
-
• #118919
I know! My bum prefers the shape of the Max but you're right, a classic Flite would suit better.

That CYFAC is just phwoar. Nothing ventured nothing gained, I wasn't in the market for a frame but saw this and thought I'd see if he was open to some staged payments, not that it was expensive, but due to the unique way I'm funded (woeful after bills) I have to be careful. Got this Gilco job thanks to a nice seller and thankfully, he said he didn't need the dough all at once. I do love a tinker when life's not a bowl of cherries it's great fun for not much outlay versus a week in Mallorca, you get something you can show for it, and enjoy and who can resist a bit of Fanini? Paint could use some work perhaps, but I do like these odd shaped tube sets. I predict this will be finished in 2050, but you never know...

Try it. With your carrying arm around the ht it’s perfect.
Works better with drops.
