Does PP put Swiss Made at the bottom just in case people do't know where Geneva (Geneve) is?

And GMT, is that in case the owner forgets what the little dial does

I think it's a nostalgia thing from back when companies were required to put origin of manufacture for tariff reasons.

Not sure how true it is, but apparently the Germans rebranded was was a destination of inferior products into one conveying quality.

I assume the Swiss did the same.
