Mille Pennines has run a few years in a row I think. I was entered for the first one in 2016 but was DNS. Maybe it didn't run last year? I can't rmemeber.

It ran last year but I also DNS, which I regret now its not on this year.
So perhaps he's just having a break from it while his 1000 is on this year

Mille Pennines is running this summer. 2019 it won't be run according to Andy on the YACF forum.

Riding out? Thought about it but ~350k
Saw some interesting rides out in the Cotswolds too.
No, will drive. Not ridden that far since IndyPac. Need to work back into it gently!

Fair enough. I did enough driving last weekend.
Might stick with my local DIYs although I'm getting sick of the dickheads driving out around Ruislip. Guess I could drive out the A40 a bit and do something that starts further out.
What will probably happen is the weather remains shit so I just do some turbo and forget all about it.

I've been thinking about doing that. Or getting on the train to Maidenhead or somewhere.
I've got so sick of riding out through Ruislip or Uxbridge, being skimmed by Mr Angry and taking an hour to get into the countryside. Was at the mother-in-laws in Germany over Easter and took bike. I could roll out of her place on the edge of town, down a hill and onto quiet lanes literally within a minute! Plus ultra-smooth roads, light and courteous traffic, gently graded climbs, usable bike lanes, etc, etc.

Yeah, exactly this. Every fucking weekend there's one arsehole who just has to overtake when into oncoming traffic only to realise this and then drive into me or skim my arm while leaning on the horn. It's getting on my tits. Then again, I got the same shit this morning on the commute passing a slower rider and then some fuckstain has a go at me to move over. Of course he's the one that's about to be stuck in traffic and I give a damn sight better than that gibbering wreck could manage. Fucker might think again now. There should be some kind of d-lock exemption for shithouse drivers.

Someone wrote a lovely song about that:
for everytime i hear them say
get the fuck out of the way
i will defend my right of way
that heap of steel i’m gonna slay
i’ll thrash you i’ll bash you
i’ll kick in your doors
break out your windows
and scratch your paint -

The Man of Kent was great!
Went off with a small group on the front and in a most un-Audax move, beat the organisers to the manned controls. Thought there's no way we'd get any sort of validation as didn't answer any of the questions either ( 🙄 I know, I know) but the organiser at the end just verified our GPS files and was really good about it. Great flattish route and some huge deep potholes in that part of Kent.
Great spray tan too.https://www.strava.com/activities/1497188427/

Just entered The Woodman, feeling somewhat sheepish for not doing my first audax of the year until mid-April. Debating whether to ECE it, or just hop on the train to/from Bishops Stortford and avoid the misery that is Epping Forest driving.

What a magnificent route! Today was one of the best days I've ever had on a bike.

ECE'd to the Man of Kent yesterday so did my first ever 300 (well, 317km actually). Over 100km more than my previous furthest distance. Was pretty tough, think I need a bike fit cos at times I felt I wasn't putting any power down cos I was so uncomfortable. Lovely though, even the rain didn't really spoil anything.

Benjamin Allen's Spring Tonic this weekend. First 200 for a while but looking forward to it.

• #7598
wow, great stuff, did you ride 100k there? how did you get back?
-
• #7599
Yesterday was a bit grim, kind of glad I was on the cobbles instead. Was thinking of doing the MoK.

50km there, 50km back. Not sure if you can see this because I'm not entirely sure of my Strava settings but:

Cycling back to London down the darkest lanes I've ever ridden was very disorientating. I've done night riding before but this was something else. Maybe because it was raining and I was so tired.
I think it runs every other year, but not 100% on that.
