I've ridden all winter, first time for about 7 years but the last 3-4 weeks have just been miserable.
Anyway, 2 hour ride to the start of my next jaunt with a 6am start.
Options? (driving there aint one of them) -

Chin up - I've DNFs AWE and Dean due to snow and DNS Meridian Hills due to severe CBA. I've only picked up 2pts and 2.75AAA said since 19/02.
Everyone is suffering together (except maybe Hippy in the pub from what it seems 😉)
I had quite a rigid timetable set up to get to 100AAA by the time the summer hols comes - looks like it'll be close to end of season now.So, are you riding Monday?

Of corks the weather forecast looks much better now. What's the point of forecasting in this country? I could read tea leaves with more accuracy.

Holy fuck, I'm broken! Anyone else out there today? Only rained for 5 out of the 10 hours so not so bad. Big ups to Hackney for great organisation. Bowl of soup at the control was the most welcome thing ever.

I bailed, got a cold and need it gone before my 300 next weekend. Next year for sure!

sitting on train with my proverbial feet up. feel much better this year than last, despite the inclement weather.
lovely home section from mayfield, a very favourable wind indeed.
had to break out the 24 up hogtrough, but other than that lovely day a wheel.
Highlights included smashing crowborough hill after last years walkies and chiddingly food stop.
Low would be front tyre blowout after less than 2km (always carry rubber kids) and the creaky bottom bracket from 80km that I was sure was going to seize at any moment. (this sorted itself after about 50km when the chain dropped, so presumably something is worn out in the drivetrain - may a well change it all really. got bb and sprocket, flip vs chainring, just pick up new chain. sounds like a plan. -

That was good! Weather was not as bad as I thought. Got a puncture cycling back from Greenwich. Couldn’t be bothered to fix after 247km day, so expensive cab home.

Anyone doing the Man of Kent 200 this Sunday?
-
• #7560
Yes!
Riding there and back too to make it a 300. Should be a nice day out. Hope the weather forecast improves.

I am considering, pending weather.

Pub, followed by pizza and beers at home followed by more beers and kebab at home.
Lovely.
What's this about some rain? :P -

Does the Pendle 600k only run on certain years?
I've got a reminder to enter it but it seems it was on last year not 2018.

Anyone doing the Man of Kent 200 this Sunday?
Yes, I've entered.
Did it about three years ago and had a gear cable snap so had to ride last 150km with two gears. But actually it was pretty flat so that was fine! -
• #7568
Nice one, would be good to meet you to pick your brains on all things ultra!
-
• #7569
Is mille Pennines a replacement for Pendle? I think it's the same organiser and similar terrain

Main tip is on the importance of checking your equipment thoroughly beforehand ;)

Riding out? Thought about it but ~350k
Saw some interesting rides out in the Cotswolds too.
-
• #7572
Not sure. One is a 600 and one is a 1000 but if they're both Andy's events perhaps he's only got time for one or the other.

and once you're certain it works, change it all the night before...

Anyone know if ACH are going to run Greenwich Mean Climb again this year? Can't see it in the AUK calender. Looks just like my sort of thing.

I think Ivan said it would be in September.
I'm so over riding in rubbish conditions this year, I've had enough of being wet, freezing cold and miserable!
I was hoping to be on more points by now this season (although i'm still on double this time last year), March has been a complete write off for me with 3 DNS and 1 DNF and i've barely even been bothered to ride to work and back :/
I can't wait for the weather to improve so I can get my mojo back!
