My partner was walking our (very small) dog in the park at the back of the estate which has a 5mph access road, a van driver sped up and tried to run them over for having the audacity to be in his way. Cue much argument ending with him walking off. He would have returned to a flat tyre and dog poo on underside of the driver's door handle. I certainly couldn't suggest you do the same but I've never been more proud.

  • Brilliant. Not quite as nice as them returning to a roaring blaze but the anti-theft paste is a lovely touch (literally).

  • That the one in Canary Wharf? Let me know how it goes, it’s opposite my building, so would like to know if it’s worth it for emergencies.

  • That's the one. Going to collect at 5.30. Hopefully difficult to fuck up. Was very very specific on how they should do it.

  • No work today, but went on a little excursion into Balham to buy some nice steak and whisky for a hot date tonight. (I know how to treat a lady)

Took the upright bike in the pouring rain, poncho over the handlebars to shelter my jeans.

Still astonished at how dry the poncho keeps me. Spent 30 minutes in the rain and could quite happily have walked into the office afterwards.

    Utility/10

  • Left office early and caught all the rain.

    Soggy/10

  • Can confirm it's a legit workshop. Work done by a dude called Lucian who seemingly has more bikes than me and loves the old stuff too. Can get stuff delivered from Halfrauds there too. Shifting better than ever.

  • This. Fly6 means not even a rat tail on the Tripster (Tripper)

  • This is good.

Maybe poo in the radiator grill would be good too. For that long-term reminder.

  • Ponchos are so good.

I think having to buy whisky & steak for a date means you’re dating my ideal woman.

  • Too much, thinking, 'Ahh it's only a little loose, I'll tighten it at the weekend'...

  • Awesome. Thanks for being the guinea pig!

  • How about if I tell you we're just off to ride bikes around London in the rain?

  • @skidlidsid What poncho you got? Thinking about picking one up.

  • I'm thinking about buying an Ark, Trek must make one, they make everything else! I'm in work BHM, 66" fixed and drenched me thinks, roll on the summer!

  • People's Poncho.

Edit: Just got back from rolling around central London in the pouring rain - still really impressed.

  • Second that, it's magic - LCC members get 15% off

  • Not quite commute but I just nipped to the shops and saw a deliveroo rider, sitting side saddle on his top tube, going at about 30mph on an electric bike, no helmet, jumping reds. Bonkers

  • I have this one too, no complaints.. saved me from a soaking multiple times this winter. maybe worth waiting for one of their 30% offers that come around quite often.

  • (This happened in York)

I was riding a long a shared bike and foot path yesterday. Came up behind a group of 15/16 year olds, walking across both the bike and foot path sides. I said “excuse me” twice, one of the ladies turns round, sees me grabs the arm of one of the guys and pulls him to the side. As I ride through they tell me I could of said excuse me, I reply saying I did twice and the lady heard me. This just led to them shouting loads of abuse. Then one of them tries to run after me, I shout “run faster” as I ride off.

Then again today I come across the same group on the same shared path. This time we are coming towards each other. They don’t move at all and I slow down to try to ride around them on the muddy grass. As I get on the grass one of them pushes his bike in to me, which causes me to fall. The whole time they are shouting abuse.

30mins later I see them again and this time one of the girls tries to kick me off my bike while I’m riding in the road.

I called 101 to report it, I couldn’t give much of a description. Typical 15/16 year old chavs with grey/black track suits and hoods pulled up.

At home now some ice on my ankle as it’s massively swollen and a few bruises on my shin and knee.

  • time to get the frozen sausages out

  • Have. Not of.

  • I hope the owner of the bike locked frame only with Zipp wheels in Bloomsbury yesterday still had his rear wheel when he got back to it cos the front had gone.
