have been considering this for my sscx if i want to convert to gears - bit spendy but no cables, no messing with levers, can use any rear derailleur...

That's what electronic shifting should have been all along. Just set your limits, tell it how many sprockets, tell it how many chainrings and have it automatically correct the indexing so it doesn't go out over time. Break your derailleur? Just buy anything from the shop and correct the pull ratios. Want to upgrade to 12-speed? Just buy a new cassette and chain, correct the limits and type "12" instead of "11".
Wish it was less ugly though. Maybe integrate it into the derailleur (with the ability to swap cage lengths) like the SRAM/Shimano ones. And it's super noisy if you watch the video. Also not sure about using Bluetooth, but I don't have any better suggestions.
Edit: I suppose what I'm proposing is the computer equivalent of Linux, where you do everything yourself and spend half your time solving frustrating niche problems instead of just using the thing, as opposed to the current Shimano/SRAM equivalent equivalent of Mac, where you can only do what they want you to do and when it breaks you throw it in the bin and buy a new one.
So I've got a SS Arkose that I'm looking to convert to geared. Any advice on best way to do this? Was thinking 1x with bar end shifter so I don't have to replace the existing brake levers.
Also, the mounts on the forks - can you use them for racks or are they just for mudguards.
