Well the middle layer was a Gore Windstopper and I had a Gore shell over the top of that, but if goretex is meant to be breathable then mine has asthma. It’s fucking useless in anything more than light rain. Time for a new one.

Can't you do some magic re-treating? Either chemicals or washing them at a certain temp?

Mate has just done the same. Cheapo Decathalon cape for £20, he was fine this morning, apart from his feet obvs. He does ride an Electra e-bike tho, very upright and laid back, not sure a cape would go with my Gazelle AA. But yeah, capes are so underrated.

I’ve tried reproofing it several times to no avail. I just think it’s either had it or it was never that good in the first place.
As the joke goes, what’s the difference between a bin bag and a goretex jacket?
A bin bag is waterproof.

apart from his feet
I have a mudguard + flapper and overshoes for that ;)

Beckenham Place Park. The concrete is super smooth, though some of those rollers are just clay/gravel. Bike was too big for any proper 'lols' on that track to be honest, but the MTB trails were fun.

I had mudguards today (and yesterday). My feet still got wet.
-
• #22059
But less wet than if you didn't have them and your bike is probably cleaner for them too.
-
• #22060
Impossible. I was fucking soaked.
It was like donald trump allover again. -
• #22061
Even when I remember to put the silly rat tail guard on I'm drier/cleaner so full guards must help. It's been two years since I used a full guard though so I could be rusty... rusty like from water and metal... oh nevermind.

Not looking forward to getting the soaking kit on again to go home. Should have just put it in the server cupboard.

• #22063
do not do this if the server room has air con

Yay it’s stopped.

OMG! When the little one finds out about this....

Lol! I never found gore Waterstoppers breathable, boil in the bag job.
Harrington Vulpine jacket is better I find and a Windstopper softshell maybe, though I've not tried, those can't take a long time of pissing rain though.

Weather was lovely on the way in. Shifter cable decided to shit itself/frayed in lever though meaning no gearz. 50/11 hard man grinding away from lights. Not ideal before big weekend of riding but glad it shit itself now rather than on the weekend! Silver lining and all that. Won't have time to get bike into one of my favourite shops so have left it at the new Cycle Republic. Dudes in the workshop seemed like they knew what they were doing. Pray for my biek.

My feet still got wet.
A front mudflap will solve that. For some reason manufacturers are not including them as standard anymore.

Top five commutes of the year so far. Sun, danglespork, widebars, civvies n shorts, quiet roads; bloody blissful.

Drawing pin stuck in tyre going through Hyde Park, cue rapid deflation of mood.

• #22071
am sure that was totally innocent mistake, lots of people need to use office supplies in a royal park.
...the cunts.

• #22072
Hey cunt, no, driving your massive van directly towards me on the wrong side of the road because you want to park on that side of the road is not fucking ok, so don't get pissy at ME.
I realise trying to argue with people like this is a waste of time so I'm tempted in the future not to waste my time and just straight punch them in the face and ride off, but then I remember I'm a feeble coward.

Wait til they've left the vehicle and torch it. It's the only way they'll learn. I think. I mean, there's probably other ways they'll learn but none you can roast marshmallows over.
Heh. We have a Wi-fi router and a couple of Macs and pc’s, that’s about it! Heater is on and things are drying out slowly
