  • Thanks everyone. Will email sjs but feel free to chip in if you're bored and have a tape measure burning a hole in your pocket.

  • Appears that Pelago only provide a 9mm thru axle adapter.

I just use a modest bar bag for carrying lunch/small items. Stopped using the Gamoh as it's a bit big/heavy for a long commute.

  • I have this extremely similar Cube version:

It's about the same price but factor in the postage. Can take some measurements if you like.

Edit: just so you're aware I've barely done any riding with it as I swapped my cantis for Maguras which fit to the studs differently. I haven't managed to figure out a solution to bodging them both on at the same time yet.

  • Aha, good shout! Found it on bikester as well with free shipping if I add some other bits. Yeah please measure it if it's not too much trouble, need to figure out if I can modify it to work with a fork + decaleur + bag I have in mind.

  • Yea I have the Gammoh on the fixed gear and it's a beast. I love it but my commute is now a 52km round trip with a few hills with the added bonus of having to drag my bike up 4 flights of stairs when I get into work. The Equilibrium isn't exactly light as it is.

  • Sorry, I only have a crap schoolboy ruler as I'm at work. Hopefully this is what you're after. If you need a specific measurement let me know. Hard to take proper measurements as obviously nothing's at right angles.

Edit: the strut that connects to the fork crown can be flipped and bent so there's a few cm of wiggle room there.

    Platform is ~110 x 180mm:

Middle of top rail to canti bolt hole is 280mm, platform about ~145mm:

Crown bolt hole to canti bolt hole is 120mm:

    Strut itself is 130mm:

  • Very helpful, thanks a lot!

  • Hard to take proper measurements

No worries, I see you've included a standard banana for reference

  • For reference

  • Brilliant work ^ thats what its all about <3

  • Found it on bikester as well with free shipping if I add some other bits.

It's free shipping for £98.99 and up. That's a lot of "other bits"!

  • If it's £100 for free shipping on bikester then definitely check bike-discount.de as well - it'sfree shipping above €100 (to the UK). I tend to find it's the cheapest for nearly anything if you can avoid the postage cost (or offset with savings on whatever else you buy).

  • Must be different for different countries. I only had to spend €50 for free shipping (Sweden)

  • Reply from sjs in case anyone's interested:

    Overall Height – 250mm Approx

    Length – 190mm Approx

Bottom Mounting to rack base height – 140mm Approx

    Base width – 125mm Approx

  • My apologies if this is a foolish question– but do the little front racks that attach to canti mounts still work with canti/V brakes on them?

  • yes. the one I bought was supplied with extra long bolts to pass through both the rack and brake arms too.

  • May require a bit of bodging (the straddle wire, the brake post bolts, etc.) but yes.

  • Oh lovely, which one did you get?

  • i have this one

    set up with cantis here:

if I'd have known the sjs cycles one was available at the time I bought mine I'd have gone for that instead. looks nicer i think.

there's a couple of queries similar to yours answered on the sjs product page which you might find helpful.

  • Oooo! That bike looks sweet! Where do you take that thing?

Those queries are helpful. https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/cube-rfr-front-carrier-496564 also says it's compatible with the cantilever system, so I kinda assume they all are. Wouldn't really make sense not to be! The cube one says it takes up to 9kgs, which is ideal.

  • thanks! mostly it's just to work and back with the occasional river lea tow path jaunt, I had a pretty horrendous accident due to a bad bit of road a little while back so I find the fat tyres reassuring. it carried me and all my junk to paris last summer and more recently around the isle of wight. hoping to get some muddy miles done up at epping forest soon.

  • What is the safety rating on having my rack like this? I feel like the answer is going to be "0/10, highly deadly". Bolts are cheap Chinese ones as well.

Edit: the bits I'm worried about are the bent strut and very long bolts

  • bent strut - very bad, my nitto rack snapped when it was set up like that, gladly not whilst riding
    long screws - don't know

  • I feel like the answer is going to be "0/10, highly deadly"

You clearly don't need my help

  • @platypus @mdcc_tester dang, thanks. The bolts are easy to swap, though they obviously still won't be flush with the studs (are they supposed to be?) but what about the crown strut/brace thing? There's no way to clear the brake booster without bending it

@platypus what happens to yours when it broke? Fell forward onto the wheel or something?
