Ultimately it's all self policed and as much about ethos as it is the rules.
I also understand that you often can't legislate for every circumstance that could give an individual an advantage. However when drafting such rules you can focus on equity of outcomes rather than process.
Anyway as a side note, even if I disagree with their drafting of the rules, should I end up entering any such a event rest assured I'm a stickler for rules and would stick to them.
