  • I don't really know any of the climbs down there and what you don't know can't possibly hurt you, right? I mean that's why Trump and Brexit happened...

  • Sweet, see you there then!

  • Just seeing if the missus has anything planned. If not I might throw an entry in. I'm racing the day before so may be a bit broken but it wouldn't be the first time I've climbed 000s of metres while broken.

  • Thankfully I have family stuff on and can't do Shark this year...

It is great from a 'being organised by ACH' point of view. But it includes a lot of not very fun climbs. They're mostly ones I'm familiar with from Brixton club runs, but doing them after 170ish-km is grim.
At least it doesn't go up Yorks Hill.

  • Hogtrough is fine, the hard bit is done and dusted before you know it.

  • Good weather and a gorgeous route this weekend through the Scottish Borders on the Scottish Borders Randonnee 200.

Enjoyed the Devil's Beef Tub climb, not just for its name, but for the views too.

  • Major audax envy...

  • Not many up this way sadly

  • Twas my first calendar 200 last year.
I don't remember being as broken as I feel every time I ride AWE, but I do remember the laugh my wife let out when I got in and said I wanted to ride GMC later on in the year, so was probably pretty bad.

I'll be there this year too. Probably on 65 with the big saddle bag as ballast, looking at the weather report.

    Nice ride though. Really nice.

  • Probably me that was.

Not bored of AWE and MH yet - been stuck on 48.5 though since mid february though due to a couple of snowy DNFs.

Dorset Coast finally tipped me over 50 yesterday.

On subject - from memory, the Shark is a nice route.

  • Yeah, the 100 points thing is one of those sub-goals I'm not going to push to achieve. I effectively did it in two months last year with TABR and TCR so I know it's possible. Same as that 40@40 thing it's nice to have something else on the go as an extra motivator to get out.
I've no idea what I'm on. Been getting 1-2 points ever couple of weeks so it's not going to be high. Plan was to do some bigger riders later in the year but I'll probably be fucked by then.

  • 20.75 at the moment.

  • slow and steady an all that.

i'm thinking of shelving the 100 now, as (daft as it sounds) summer is coming.

gonna have less excuses for dodging out of stuff etc.

i'm finding finding the days the hard part. and the motivation to go out in the dark. hopefully it should be a breeze through the summer though and i plough through sometime in late august. a lot hinges on porkers and brimstone though. thats 13.5 AAA right there - 4AWEs, and i'm already one ride behind schedule what with the DeanNF last weekend.

its finding the time to walk all those hills.......

  • I did sneak off to Spain and rode 160k/4000m with the missus but I've no idea if it's going to get me AAA points. I'd love to do Mille Pennines and some of the other big ones (that hard 600k starts with P?).

  • Love the Old stage Road!

  • New to Audax so still really finding my way so bear with me.
Was hoping to ride London Cambridge London as a permanent this Friday but can't see a route apart from Straight Out of Hackney which doesn't seem to run anymore. Apart from just riding the SOOH route, are there any options to get me any sort of points?

  • DIY mandatory route start from your house door.

  • Do it as a DIY by GPS. Instructions: http://www.aukweb.net/diy/mand/

I did London Cambridge London as my February DIY. Personally wouldn't recommend it if you're coming from south London because 40km of cycling through London is rubbish. We set off at 6am on a Sunday so the traffic was fine on the way out, but coming back it was awful. And it snowed.

That cafe in Saffron Walden is ace, though.

  • Thanks both very helpful! Just need to get my route sorted now and will be good to go!
    South East London for life!

@Klar and I did great escape for Jan RRTY in -1 and continuous rain, I was DONE with cycling for some time after that ride. Epping road traffic on the way back played a big part in it.

  • Oooof.

Unfortunately I have left my March RRtY ride to... well, this Friday or Saturday. The weather looks bloody atrocious. Urgh.

  • South London for life!

Prison wasn't an option? Harsh judge...

  • I was meant to do the Gently Bentley, but it was cancelled due to snow. So did my own version on Sunday, starting from home in SE, but finishing in Woking to catch a train back and avoid London afternoon traffic. It was a good route and would recommend. Would be a very decent day in the saddle with the ride home too, but I get bored after 200k.

  • That's basically a greatest hits of everywhere I've lived and ridden.
