Atherton was a senior player/captain (?) and did the dirty work himself like a man. He didn’t get a kid to do it for him.
If you’re going to cheat, do it with integrity.
Plus - he was using the dirt to dry his fingers, not rubbing it on the ball. He said so, so it must be true.

I want to see the Aussies hung out to dry but they’ll all just fuck off and play T20 and that will devalue Test cricket which is the only format worthy of my attention.
It’s a conundrum.
Maybe the punishment should be that Ben Stokes get a free punch at Smith, Warner and Bancroft. End of the whole affair.
