I have the black / orange ones- have changed the laces to black as well. Still look pretty dorky but the most minimal spd shoe I could find that can pass as relatively normal / you can still walk in them. They’ve lasted about a year and a half of daily commuting and still going strong!
I bought some specialized recon shoes but they’re too big for me :(. Quite like the way they look though

Brits wear white trainers with jeans... they can all get fucked if someone decides to wear SIDIs in to the office.
May as well wear socks and sandals, the fucking freaks.

Have you seen the guy who rides barefoot with spd flip flops?
-
• #22005
But
you're
supposed
to have
bare feet
when
in
thongsflip flops -
• #22006
He means this:
I still never got a satisfactory answer to who Goat is and why he's called Goat
-
• #22007
Oh, I see. I used to ride around in bare feet with cageless Beartrap pedals. Because who's got time for footwear in Oz?
I don't quit get the above though.

My casual SPD shoes look like trainers, coz they are trainers. We're cheap as chips. As in less than a fiver for the insole and the silicon sealant.

If I Google Beartrap pedals I get this:
Looks uncomfortable barefoot...
-
• #22011
"cageless"
and yes, they're still uncomfortable barefoot.

Ah, I thought you meant this sort of cage:
Fair enough though, if I had to cycle around in that heat I'd not want shoes either

These might be to your taste.

Not made for people with proper shoe sizes so I'm out.

Jackets aren't shoes, stop messing with my head.
-
• #22015
No YOUR a jacket - etc......
-
• #22016
That loaded on the blue/aqua pair and I thought you were taking the piss... but the black ones look ok.
I can't see what sizes they offer.
-
• #22017
Don't matter to me. Sasquatch Wide is not an option.

Personally I prefer the Privateers in black/gum. All of those 'casual' spd shoes look dumb (they're either shit for cycling and you end wearing an ugly trainer/shoe or they're too smart and you look like an overpaid stuffy bellflap). If I'm turning up in spds might as well not hide it, but at least the Privateers aren't 'be safe, be seen' / 'hey look at our company logo' lairy.

I cut the logo label off these.

Up at 5, left home at 5:30, 66" fixed, to G4S at Nine Elms, head wind and heavy rain, wind had changed direction so head wind home!! Wore a Rapha cape my ex gave me, doesn't warrant £180 but kept me dry. Washed bike and trapped my finger between the chain and the sprocket, that hurt!!!!! Glad I only do 2 days a week, weather looks shit all week, racing on GF. Roll on the summer.

Looks like an undercover bowling shoe.

I used to have some dzr shoes that were great
But I'm pretty sure all the new ones look less good.
I wore those everyday for a number of years though, they were great until the leather wore through. -

Half to to the station and something goes 'pop' near my feet.
Pull over and note that the non drive side lock ring has sheered off.
Next couple of miles felt like riding a clown bike. Bit of zip tie action on the train and I could manage a perfectly reasonable 10 mph to get to work.

• #22024
non drive side lock ring has sheered off
what's that ? the hub bolt ?
In other news I'm WFH, can't face the rain again! it just pisses down all the fucking time.

Soggy
They are indeed. I just wish the others didn't have the orange stripe on the sole.
