  • The damage I posted up thread - any recommendations on where to get it repaired and what the likely quote cost is? North London preferred.

If I went the insurance route, I would have a £350 excess and bump in future premiums I guess.

  • Anyone got good recommendations for the metal ties for doing exhaust wrap...... the one I got are either shite or I don't know how to use the tool.

  • For e.g. Bond-It PU18?

Something like that, yep. It's got a bit of flex to it, so vibration shouldn't be an issue.

  • 500 miles done in the beemer already and loving it. Comfortable, efficient and goes like stink (diesel). Only thing I do wish I had is adaptive cruse control, but would never get that at this level. Also already scuffed the front bumper (oops), so the honeymoon is over.
Plus the boot swallows everything I need to go racing under the privacy cover, perfect.
Remap for sure when I’ve cash.

  • What car and is It the door or the root panel? If just a door just change the skin for one off a salvage car, best way to get paint matching.
Though remediation of the panel and paint I doubt would cost more than £600
Looks like something was dropped on it

  • How well do bikes fit in the boot? Still contemplating purchasing one and interested to know how the space compares with my 3 Series (which is rubbish for bikes unless both seats are down)

  • There’s a 58 frame in there (photo above) with wheels off, wheels in there, 60L bag (half full) and turbo. Or put the seats down and it’ll go in with both wheels on.

  • I had hoped to be picking up the 911 on Friday morning, but (in a fashion somewhat familiar from the Time Machine) the total lack of communication suggests that it won't be ready.

This has some knock-on effects, namely that I can't drop the C55 off to have it's arches rectified.

I'm also going to be in Australia for the second and much of the third weeks of April, and then off to Bespoked for the weekend.

Potentially, therefore, I will get the Porsche back in the final days of April or early May, which will make it just under five months that the car has been in Chobham, which looking back on it is astonishing.

It's currently with the trimmers, I don't know if they've even started working on it at the moment.

Feeling a bit let down at this stage tbh.

  • Perfection takes time. Its been away ages but at least you'll have it back when the salt will be off the road and the weather should be better.

  • This is true. And the C55 will be the better car to leave at Heathrow whilst I'm getting bitten by spiders.

  • I'd just like a bit more communication, really. I hate being kept in the dark.

  • Thats understandable. I sometimes feel though that bodyshops and trimmers (especially on this kind of car) tend to think they can take their time as people want the best they can give and it's always hard to hurry them.

  • Tec-7 would probably work quite well here I'd imagine.

  • It's a bit of a downer IME.

  • Volvo v90. Door on one side, roof panel on the other.

I just took it in to the local Volvo dealer who took photos to send off to AD Williams, which is a Volvo approved body shop.

  • Shit, roof will be dear.

Consider getting a dash cam that's "always on" and is sensitive when Parked so records/noted bumps
Trying to catch the twats who use my cars as parking aids, 20 year old v70 but still hurts evry time someone puts a new dent in it.
Cams now have a boot lid cam to record the back and helps for reversing too (though every v90 has a backup cam standard though?)

Was a recent YouTube story of a lady who's focus was mangled by an airport parking company who said "hasn't moved for two weeks and wasn't us"
Dash cam recorded the twat reverse over a concrete block, car was also moved like 17 times?! Dunno what happened, but gives you some evidence

  • trimmers

    What's being done?

  • It's getting a haircut.

  • New roof, plus all the bits in the rear of the cabin that are (effectively) the same material as the roof being replaced, drivers seat being modified so it has a lower seating position, and the seat backs painted body colour.

  • disabled / sainted parents bay?

    you monster.

  • I've been disabled by all the tax I pay.

  • you should give your car to a homeless person. it's the right thing to do.

    #threadbeouf

  • How would I know if they played golf though?
