I can sell my stupid f/1.2 lens and move on
How about you make some portraits with it before you rid it?

What scan size do you go for from filmdev? I've been getting small - is it worth the extra £2 going for medium?

I did this long exposure (around 3.5 hours) and it's covered in fine spots.
Only frame on the roll to exhibit this issue......
Any ideas what happened and how to avoid it?

Not sure if it's any help (n00b here), I remember reading somewhere that some colour neg films don't respond well to long exposures, colour shifts and other artefacts. So mebe this is one of those cases

Could well be..... never had this issue before. Shame as it was a fun shot.

Some shots from the Zero Image 2000 6x6 pinhole, Ektar 100 film.
Quite a fun camera and very much improved over the RSS due to the fact it has a cable release.

Hi,
I'm a photographer too ! Black and white only. -

If this is 120 I think it might be something to do with the backing paper causing secondary exposure/ leaks. +1 if you're using a camera with a red window for frame counting (if neither I don't know at all).
If you're using decent film it strictly shouldn't be a problem, but I've had similar issues before due to shit film, and I've heard of it happening regardless due to humidity and temperature, so with a long exposure it seems possible this kind of thing happened. Our at least I can't think of another good reason.

Welcome!
Very nice images!
What camera / film do you use, also do you have a website?
Cheers.

Thanks. I'm using a M6 (now in reparation), a TC1 and a Pen D3 half-format. TriX and Foma 100 are the only films i'm using because of their rendering when I stand develop them in Rodinal. I'm a big fan of stand developing, I wrote a memoire about that.
Some of my work can be seen here. (sorry in french) -

Total noob here; just bought a Canon EOS 100 for a tenner. I've read through the thread and it seems like filmdev.co.uk are the go to for development. Is there anyone cheaper than that? Looks like about £6/roll and then a few quid to have the negatives posted back.
Secondly what film should I start with? Thinking a few rolls of ISO 400 C41, and the cheapest roll I can get to test the camera out with?

Ha, that's the first time I hear from somebody actually shooting with a TC-1.
Was beginning to think they're just a myth, or that they are just all broken by now.
Nice. Hope you enjoy it.
I haven't used Rodinal in ages. Might try it with Acros soon.
Guess your writeup on stand developing is in french as well?Spent a good while looking at the images on your site.
Some gorgeous monochrome tones there, love looking at those!
Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work!

Yea, get the cheapest available somewhere for testing the camera, after that just try and error.
Compare (read: search for) different types of film on flickr for example and see for yourself if you prefer the looks of one over the other.
It's a real good practice in the beginning to note down the settings and shot conditions.
Have fun! -

It could have been the paper or a change in temp / humidity..... I have taken similar shots before without issue but hard to know.
Film is Portra 400.

Mind to post a picture of it?

Ahah. I broke my Mju 2 (like the 192476th mju i've had) so when i searched for a new one, I found a bundle of point and shoot camera, like almost all of the best ones, for a ridiculous price AND in perfect condition with manual and case... I took it because of the Mju 1 limited edition mirror, i've never seen it before.
And only some times after, I realised there was a TC1.
It's my new daily camera, always in my pocket. It's not as "all weather" as the mju and not as resistant (I rode on it with my bike :/) but the handling, the reliability and the quality are really high.My writeup is in french, obviousy, but I can explain if some are interested by the stand development. I tried 3 developers and 5 films, with sensitometry so my process is pretty settled. I was searching for a good way to develop film in order to have graininess, acutance and compensating effect (large grey scale, less contrast). That's why enable stand development !

I meant a pic of the 'fine spots' you were mentioning
: ]That last pic you posted is really nice by the way.
To be honest I was never a big fan of these star-trail images, but the colours of the sky and landscape beneath are something else!
Beautiful! -

Ha, lucky punch with the cameras, nice!
Yea if you find the time a summary of your findings on stand developement would be appreciated!
