  • I fell on ice today....

  • Oh man, sorry to hear. Hope you're okay.

FWIW, the course was quite treacherous in parts, huge chunks of rock, massive holes, sand pits, and the likes. While i didn't stack it i came close quite a few times, also saw a few people that had nasty gravel rash and cut up knees and the likes. Also, punctures and component break downs galore.

  • I rode to mate's to get Aussie sweets. It was a snowy success.

  • Fifty five miles of snowy mud on the cross bike yesterday. The last fifteen were honestly some of the toughest miles I've ever done!

The temperature never got above -1C. Everything froze - my water bottle, cassette (went from 1x11 to 1x1 by the end of the ride), the derailleur, cables, me. Somehow the mud wasn't frozen until it stuck to the bike though. Rode past snowdrifts as tall as I am!

The route was great though, mainly canals & old train tracks converted into cycleways. Would have been lovely were it fifteen degrees warmer., was an (tough) adventure instead!

  • ^ha!

great pic. The walk of shame, shoulda tried to style it out by throwing bike in the ditch and riding off on the horse. In fact the horse looks kinda disappointed that option was'nt selected.

  • Did he not carry a tube at all?

  • Nope! I was slightly annoyed.
I had CO2 canisters but it wouldn’t sit and seal.

Yeah I love the pic and the ponies judgemental face

  • ”Spring” has finally made it here to southern Sweden, and I’m spending the weekend on Gotland. Riding atm is all about finding that perfect speed that is fast enough to keep you warm, yet slow enough to not freeze your feet off in the wind.

  • Put new Michelin Pro3 Race 23's (ta, Decathlon) on the Battered-glin, did a slow 30-odd miler. Felt very skittish. Unnerved. But did Path Hill (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4997251,-1.0707283,15z?dcr=0) and didn't need to stand up like last time. Well done me. Also wore shorts because Spring's here and was told I have chicken's legs.

  • Did a loop to the Ashdown. Lumpy.

  • I was supposed to do the Gently Bentley Audax last weekend, but the weather meant it was cancelled. So I decided to do my own version of it today. 210k from home, picking up the route in Hampton Court and finishing in Woking.

  • Two rides this weekend.

On Saturday we did a forty five mile loop from Huddersfield taking in Wessenden Head & reverse Holme Moss. First proper hilly ride I've done on the road bike this year, was good to get out. Freakishly still conditions at the top of Holme Moss. Shame the descent into Holmfirth is so meh. Least we had fun flying down into Greenfield earlier.

On Sunday, the weather was glorious, so planned a little thirty five mile route out to Ilkley via Cow & Calf, coming back straight over the moor on a road I've wanted to do for a while, down into West Morton. I knew it'd be gravelly, & I thought it'd be steep, turned out that it was definitely both of those things. 20% gravel is interesting! Ended up spending four hours in the Saltaire Brewery bar on the way back along the canal & got a little sunburnt.

Great weekend's riding, glad that it's now BST.

  • What tool is that calendar/graph from?

  • http://www.veloviewer.com - connects to your strava and gives you a shitload of ways to display and analyse your recorded rides

  • You must live rather close to my Dad, he is by Springbourne fire station.

  • Three hours of rain, wind and cold :( but rode up Streatley Hill (West Berkshire) for the first time in years.

  • Ahh, I know VV, but never seen that.

  • @Tenners ah? should be on your 'summary' page (I didn't customise anything as far as I'm aware)
