  • Can't have an open flame for some reasons... wife with asthma, CO.
    Not concerned about turning down the heat at the correct time and rate. I'm basically looking for a heat source that is more consistent than my coil-top range and uses less power to do the job.

  • Bialetti make a plug in moka pot with its own heating element. How about that one?

  • We have mostly IKA RCT Basic models, which are on the cheap end for a decent lab heater-stirrer, but still talking £hundreds here - they're not terribly quick and I wouldn't call them impressively consistent either, even with a probe, they're quite slow to click on and off to maintain temperature, just like a domestic hob.
