Speaking of alpinists a friend of mine is selling this for £700

A friend of mine just bought one of those in great condition diction for £500. Not sure if he got a bargain or whether your friend is priced high but either way, lovely watch.

Yeah just to be clear I don’t think £700 is a bargain but in the £500-700 range they’re pretty nice watches.

Edit: I mainly posted it because lots of people think that vintage means risky and expensive, which doesn’t need to be true

Is that a mark on the dial from the hour hand being dragged up to 12 o'clock though? Otherwise quite a nice watch.

I've had a couple of vintage watches with that sort of mark over the years and have never been able to work out the cause. Doesn't look quite like a hand setting scratch to me.

Anyone know where I can get decent, not too spenny watch straps in London? Would order online but going away on Monday and would like something before then.

Shame they wanted £100 for it. Not prepared to pay that, especially when the original strap is so gammy. Looked on ebay and a few have sold for less than £50 recently.

Heh, managed to find a nato in westfield of all places for a tenner.

1952 Omega 2650-5SC. Missing hour marker at 4 but other than that it's in a nice, unpolished condition and seems to be keeping time very well. Movement is also in great condition. Got it from this guy, who has a ridiculous amount of watches at reasonable prices: https://www.reddit.com/user/kabaclyde - in Belgium so no added taxes and shipping was very speedy.

http://watchsurgerylondon.co.uk/ - in Westfield. They had no straps on display but had quite a few in most sizes if you asked. Nato's for a tenner so can't really complain.
