Novotec (Hunt) rear hub, 12mm TA. Seems like the hub shell - or at least the centerlock spline ring - isn't centered around the NDS end cap / axle. It spins fine, but the hub is clearly making a slightly eccentric orbit around the end cap.
If I put a brake rotor on it, there's ~1mm lateral variance at the edge with every revolution. I'd be surprised if the huge axle is bent, the rotor lock ring threads in fine so that part probably isn't deformed, I've tried removing and re-installing the NDS end cap. Anything else I can try? Returning the wheel is going to be a pain in the arse.

Geekhouse nearly fully on trend. Will be short lived as plan is to return it to fixed glory days for summer. Such a great bike. I have missed it immensely.

Got to turn this into a great commuter and continent crosser as apparently buying houses makes you super poor. Who knew?
Anyway 6800 group, new wheels and 8.9s itβll be grand. Might splash on a spray.bike paint job.

Traded a delay pedal for this (Team Marin 1995). Thinking of smacking a wald on it and use it for bikecamping in the woods around Oslo.

Iβve got one of those, great bike. Those Marin Lite brakes are a bit fiddly to set up though.

I need to replace my right hand (rear) shifter. it's a SRAM apex 10sp. I assume I can just replace it with any SRAM (apex/rival/force/red) 10sp shifter?

It has been there since the late 80s, so it clearly bothers you more than it bothers me.

Overhaul completed. Pretty much finished tinkering with this bike now with my daily workhorse. Riding through the snow and winter without a proper service had ruined the chain, BB and brake pads. Really happy to finally replace the old smelly fizik bar tape with the Rapha brevet one which are way more comfortable.
I do miss the bar flare though on my old bars as this new Thomson cross bar is very similar to a road bike compact straight drop, hopefully this will only be a minor adjustment.
After this new service the bike does finally more dialled in and smoother, though the replacement disc pads do feel a little soft and not as sharpe as the swissspot one. However Iβm just nick picking, great to be riding the daily workhorse again with it new lease of life for the spring/summer season.

There's still a piece of Scotch magic tape on the top tube showing me where to go back to in case the change over the winter of 88/89 didn't pan out. The Hinault reference is to the book from which I took bike fitting advice. It has worked thus far, as the position didn't revert to what I was using before, and I have transferred the same fit to everything I've bought since.
