  • Try 13mpg in a John Cooper Works Spi.

  • 4gallon tank?

  • Ok once again. The T5 is the modular engine, you understand that? How many engine configurations, eg number of pistons in a row did it come in?

No you really don't know. But lets lead you to the correct answer.

    Nope, completely wrong.

The T5 signified one of a range of five cylinder engines, and that range of engines was modular - 4-6 cylinders.

For e.g. the engine in Nurseholidays car is the B2345T5, which signifies that it's petrol (B for Benzine), 2.3 litres, 4 valves per cylinder and that there are 5 cylinders and that this is the T5 variant (high pressure turbo, low compression, specific to the T5-R and later 850R).

The 960 had a whiteblock I6, but even putting that into a 7/940 is non-trivial.

So - in conclusion, give up you thick cunt.

  • Way too high. Try pressing the pedal down a bit harder.

I'm sure you can get it into single figures if you go for it.

No doubt, this was a steady 70 on the M3, if I'd chosen the A272 then it'd be a different story.

However, I did choose this car for high-torque wafting around, not charging about as if trousers are afire, as I have a different vehicle for that.

On a different note my car history is now one of each: 2, 5, 6 and 8 cylinder petrol engines, one of which was turbocharged.

  • You're both aware of the ignore function, right?

Use it for the sake of others... either that or just fuck and get it over with.

  • Otherwise we all have to use it...

  • It was showing 26 mpg cruising on the M3 this morning, and 15mpg in town before that.

    Frugal.

  • You're both aware of the ignore function, right?

Use it for the sake of others... either that or just fuck and get it over with.

    Soz.

  • You're both aware of the ignore function, right?

That's the solution I've adopted with @lynx, but the trouble is he's then free to give lousy advice and talk total bollocks without people who do actually know what they're talking about correcting him for the benefit of everyone else who might not know any better. Least bad option, but far from ideal.

  • just fuck off and get it over with

    ftfy

  • I get that but @Dammit isn't the only person with knowledge on here and they can't just play nice so if they ignore each other, everyone else can get on with their lives (including correcting peoples "knowledge") and it won't have to be an embarrassing hate-fuck-fest every time one or the other post something.

  • Yeah but is their hatred modular

  • What I'm currently enjoying about the Volvo is under full boost the washer fluid light comes on. I'm assuming this is due to the fact the car squats so hard it sloshes away from the level sensor.

  • Oh and it makes a great pop and bang on high boost high rpm gearchange

  • It's probably hard for most people to get excited by such a mangled, rusty pickup, which wasnt ever particularly good looking or quick when it was new, but I have a vision... This 1989 subaru brat is the basis for my next project... Lots of bodywork to do, after I straighten the chassis. I'll follow this with some good old fashioned, naturally aspirated, carburetor, 1800, flat 4 tuning. Don't have time for my serious engine work yet, but that will be another project for the future (or maybe a conversion to an ej257 or similar). Just want to get it straight, looking good, and on the road again for now, as it seems mechanically solid.

  • awsey!

  • Brats look ace!

A mate of mine is currently building one with WRX STI running gear

  • Is that like when you force a fart you risk doing a little pee?

  • Nice. Make it look like this:

  • MPG - in a past life delivering test drives for Vauxhall, had a top of the range V6 Frontera in single figures for most of the drive Leeds to Newcastle. Quite satisfying using someone elses fuel.

  • What I'm currently enjoying about the Volvo is under full boost the washer fluid light comes on. I'm assuming this is due to the fact the car squats so hard it sloshes away from the level sensor.

This is correct. The washer reservoir is entertainingly vast, also.

  • loving that Brat. Will be great to see what you do with it

  • Oh and it makes a great pop and bang on high boost high rpm gearchange

It spits flames from the exhaust when you close the throttle, I am informed by people who have been behind me.
