Regarding the album you initially linked to, that's still on my distributors stock list so rrp would be around £16 for a mint copy, they may not still be available from the distributor but chances are it's still being pressed.

I like the AP & MOFI reissues. No doubt there are some good originals out there but it's a massive pain in the arse to track them down so I can see why he sells a few.

Anyone been to audio gold in crouch end?

Btw is there a feasible way of flattening warped records? Concave/convex.

2 main products come up. One is £1k and comes from Japan, supposed to be easy to get records flat. The other is Vinyl Flat which is a clamp that goes in a heated bag and costs close to £300 once you get it over from the states. That's supposed to need a bit more thought and some records will still not flatten.

In some cases pringled discs won't play right even if you get them flat. I've got a few that could do with flattening but none of the old school methods (lots of weight for a few weeks etc.) have ever worked and I can't justify the Japanese machine.

Just down the road from me. Haven’t been in for a while but they have some good stuff. They’re always pretty happy to chat to and let you try stuff out.

Thanks. They’re convex rather than pringled, I’ve got two and they sound just fine to my ears so definitely not going out of my way to try to correct it.
Will try to stick em under some books, but I would have thought you’d have to bend them further than straight like when cold setting a steel bike frame...

Apparently a little warmth helps relax them, in my case it's usually a little warmth that fuxed them in the first place! I had a habit of leaving them on the deck in the sun years ago.

Anyone ever sell through Discogs? Have a few bits and pieces I'm going to offload.
Slightly concerned about grading my vinyl and getting it wrong.

I’ve sold through discogs, though not for a while. I’m usually fairly conservative with grading, but as long as you follow the grading guidelines and mention any specific issues, you should be ok.

I've sold a few albums/12" of various value on Discogs.
I tend to grade conservatively as well.
If it's something reasonably valuable, it's worth writing audio review of each track - pops / clicks etc... if you can. They seem to sell better/quicker.
Some buyers are very fussy and will ask lots of questions before buying. Others don't seem that bothered.

Cheers both. Not selling anything particularly rare but I have a few in the £40-£50 mark so will keep grading conservative.

Yeah, i sold some records on here a while back so +1 on that - had a decent amount of interest. and face to face is a good way of removing a lot of the pitfalls of record selling!

Hip Hop from the early 80's through to late 90's. 90s DnB, then a few Ninja Tunes/MoWax type stuff. A little bit of house here and there.
Went through a phase of buying a good amount from Mr Bongo, so African/Italian Jazz type weirdness.

You should list it here. I’ve sold around 100 pieces on Discogs but that was from listing 1500. They don’t sell that fast if you’re listing small quantities. Postage prices make discs under £10 harder to shift, it’s nice to see high values on some disks in a collection but the buyers are as rare as the disks.

Decent coffee machine, records to buy and audio porn to look at.

Part of me thought that bits of Nick Hornsby book high fidelity migh be based here as it is near his beloved Arsenal.

Was chatting about this in a record shop in Brixton the other day. You could play a decent set with records costing less than £10. Don't ever dismiss a record because of it's price, sure it plays a part in enjoying a collection but the only reason some vinyl is expensive is it was so unpopular they didn't make much of it.

All that said it's cheering when you put a cat. no in and its selling for £80! :)

I reckon Discogs is playing a big part in the current price escalation and it could well blow out a bit shortly.
