Im curious now... you are in South America and are buying parts for a bike thats still in your home town? Cant you buy/build a mtb or tourer over there?

travelling the continent, so no bike for me. getting home in april and really looking forward to a bit of wrenching, so this should work out nicely

I'd contact White industries and see if they made a campag freehub for your hub. They have them for their T11s so it could be a goer...
Otherwise conversion cassettes are available from miche and ambrosio.
Or, if it's an 11s shimano freehub you could change to 11s Campagnolo and use a shimano cassette, as the spacing is the same.

already did that and they don't have a freehub body available. it seems to be 10sp only, so it's not compatible with newer hub parts.
any other hub besides the T11 H3 and Tracker should work.
this is what they sent me when i emailed them.

found an LTA with campag body in the states, it is already with a friend and will get to me shortly after the trip. also got a use alien carbon, so i'll be moving towards the front of the bike in terms of upgrades.
been toying with the idea of replacing all hardware in the skeletons with titanium.
ps.: ww forum member suggested rims are early reynolds, so hoping they won't explode in my face while braking..

using a KMC chain means you can just use a shimano cassette with the campag mechs, requires a bit of tuning but works fine

well, after a lot of fiddling, swearing, cleaning and a nice cut in my finger, i now have a campag freehub body installed. the youtube tutorial made disassembly seem easy...
wheel now weighs in at 980g instead of 965g (w/ shimano body)

so slapped the wheels on the bike for a weekend test ride as next week i hope to use it in the alps for a few days. still need to get matching shimano brake shoes (swisstop carbon pads for shimano are half the price of the campy set).
changed the zero100 handlebar for presa - that's 39grs. that's almost 40grs!

Looked much better with the old wheelset ATMO :(

This is a spot on build. What’s it weighing in at now? Love it

thanks! will measure tomorrow as i never did before and i'm curious. new wheelset is 120g heavier though and there are still some mods i'd like to do in the future. brake hardware, steerer bung, cassette lockring, spider and chainrings all weigh a ton.. :)

Fire. So so good

Nice bike. Just need to ditch the valve caps and get a straight fork :)

valve caps maybe, but the only fork this is getting is a Cannondale SI (that is, if i can ever find one..) :)
hello all
at the time i'm writing this, i'm very far from home and i'm really missing my bikes and riding. i usually try to be close to bikes when i can (eg. rent one or go ride the death road in bolivia on a downhill bike, but it's just not the same as riding my own. and it's certainly not enough.
so what can one do 12k kms away from the bikes? daydream, and keep an eye on the classifieds section and ebay of course! daydreaming brought up the idea of going weight weenie on my best bike and ebay.. well, more on that a bit later.
some of you might know the bike in question from the cannondale thread - it is a 613 (frame bought on here) set up with Campagnolo Record 10s, Hollowgrams and a Fulcrum5 wheelset. i always planned on making it better but was never willing to shell out more than the frame's worth for the wheels. it is fairly light as it currently stands - just a wee bit over 7 kgs (something like 7100 grs), but there's always room for improvement :)
this brings me to an auction i won the other day: i always lusted for a white industries hubset (CK is nice and all but def can't afford) and checking the bay i noticed a wheelset that i really liked.. WI LTA hubs on unknown carbon rims, including a pair of new continental competition tubs and a Dura Ace casette. strangely not many people had it in their sight, so i got the whole combo for really silly money.
also bought an SLR135 saddle to replace the current fizik (shape is ok, but did not have the "comfiest saddle ever" feeling with any saddle so far, so this is an experiment too aside from weight loss)
i'll definitely go down the Kalloy UNO -17 route and might pop on a tester top cap too, but there's time for that, and also thought of getting a lighter post. china carbon is not for me, so was thinking USE Alien Carbon. aiming for one on the bay, but if anyone has a spare one, please shout.
seller stated the wheelset comes in at 2000 grs all in, so according to calculations (F5 weight: 1650, Rubino Pro 3 weight: 235, Schwalbe SVT20 weight: 65, Chorus casette: 243, total: 2493), i'm losing quite a bit right there (might be more, as every weight apart from the casette is taken from manufacturers' sites).
will post scale pics when i get home and have the parts in my hands.
those paying attention are surely thinking of the Dura Ace casette i mentioned and Shimano splines for the bike equipped with Campagnolo, so here is the tricky part: do i try to find a casette body for the hub (there is one on ebay, but not compatible with my hub), or do i go Sram Red? i really like Campag, i love the fact that it's serviceable, but in the end (long term), it might be easier to adjust the groupset to the splines of the freehub in this case.. suggestions?
