  • Not gonna dignify that with a response........

  • @hugo7 whilst I understand your cynicism, there’s no denying that it’s a fantastic looking watch.

  • New GMT Black Bay....

  • You're right. I'm just being unnecessarily neg. It is an excellent update on the GMT, and essentially what most want from the watch.

  • Note to self. #KeepUp

  • It's annoying the way the crown on the Black Bay sits so proud, ruins it

  • That looks great.

It's the first time I've liked the diamond shape on the hands - maybe something to do with there being 3 of them?

Plus the angularity of the case, and the number font... it all comes together in a way that their other ones haven't for me. Not that I was about to rush out and buy one, but from checking it sounds a bit tubby for me - I really wish 11mm was viewed as the default max thickness by watch brands.

  • Trying to resurrect thread from Baselworld by reposting Frodsham:

  • Reminds me I need a battery in my Fossil Boba Fett ...

Uses two different sizes, one for the quartz one the light.

  • Wow! Now that is a seriously lovely watch.

    Is the dial enamel?

The upsidedown numbers should even meet with @Soul 's approval ;)

  • I'd not heard of Nomos before today - are they good? I like the look of the Club ones... I'm after a new watch and so far the Tudor BB 36 is winning but I know very little about watches... other options I've looked at are (all 36mm ish) IWC pilot, Hamilton Khaki Field, Bremont something (are Bremont rated by people in the know?) finally a speedy 'reduced' which I felt was a bit too thick on the wrist... am I missing anything obvious?
    Cheers in advance!

  • The intersection of the two dials is very classy.

  • Nomos

They're a German micro-brand that got heaps of praise from, Reddit, the watchsnob and hoodinkee. Essentially for offering in-house movements with original design at ultra-competitive prices. (As opposed to just repackaging mass market movements with some faux heritage marketing). They now also make some much more expensive models.

You'll definitely need to try the Club on before you buy as it has quite long lugs, so doesn't necessarily wear like you might expect it to. Because of that, if it works for you I'm sure you could get a good deal 2nd hand from someone who didn't try it on first. Personally I love the way it looks... just not on my wrists unfortunately :(

Bremont got quite a bit of backlash from the internet for over-marketing a while back, and just generally being a bit expensive for what they are. I've just always thought they make quite big watches, but otherwise look nice.

The new range of Oris watches seem to have been pretty popular the last few pages. The 65's are also nice because they've sacrificed a bit of water depth (only 100m) to make them thinner.

  • Have tried a Club on and they don't feel that 'great'. Lugs very long. Nice dial though. The BB36 by comparison is a far nicer watch due to the Oyster case, but obviously more than twice as much as the entry level Club. But, in house movements. Reasonably priced. Look nice. Have you tried them all on? I've found that when trying stuff on, when you know, you just know. Lots of news to come in the next few days so there'll probably be something there. And then there's vintage, which increases the scope by 10000000 times.

  • I have a 36mm Nomos Club, it’s a good watch, one of two watches that I wear nearly constantly these days. Wears a little larger than its 36mm (feels quite a bit bigger than a 36mm Explorer, for instance) due to its long lugs and slim case. If I lost it I’d buy another, which I suppose is the best endorsement.

  • Nato colour combo recs for this? Was thinking navy and black hardware.

  • @JB @radar Cheers for the info! I’ll try to find a nomos stockist to showroom it... really like the black/dark grey faced ones but keep going back to the white with pink (?) numerals with orange second hand...
the Bremont display was next to the Tudor so I tried a vintage look diver that was smaller than most others, it was nice but £1000 more than the Tudor and very obviously ‘vintage look’...
I’ll check out Oris - cheers again all!

  • Most work.
I have a 009 and have worn navy, green, orange, grey, gulf racing colours, all look good.
I'd show some pics but my watch is packed away from the move

  • Likely an enamel dial. There’s an article about it in my latest BHI magazine. It’s entirely designed from scratch.

  • I'm doubtful that any part of it is a real rolex

That’s a pity. I thought it was rather attractive.

  • That dial can fuck off.

    1. Upside down numbers can >>>>
    2. Sub seconds overlapping main dial - for why?
    3. Second hand is the reverse of the hour hand (arrow at the wrong end) - That definitely wont confuse you at a quick glance
    4. Hour marker points cut through the minute markers (fine with this) but then don't on the sub seconds - fucking why?

Finally, I can't get away from the fact that enamel dials remind me of the Armitage Shanks logo on a toilet bowl.

If you changed the above, the watch is beautifully proportioned and the movement looks lovely.
