Fusion360 is free to businesses turning over <$100k, that probably applies to you unless you're spending a lot more time on your lathe than we know about :)
If I wanted to model it in 3D CAD then I'd fire up my old copy of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2.0 and use that. And do some FEA studies just for the hell of it too. Seems overkill for drawing lacing patterns though.
