Would totally love the box unless someone is gonna offer you £££ for it.

Pm your address and I will make it so.

I think it might already have been returned to sender with various organic matter included inside.

Looks re-chromed (base metal / brass case). Seconds hand presumably doesn't reset to zero.
I'd say maybe £250 if it is ex-issue. May say "Patt 3169" to the rear or similar.

Thanks. The auction house had £420 opening and £700-1000 estimate, but it was passed without bid. Agree with your comments. It looks too new overall but then it was only one photo. Didn't get a chance to visit the auction house today as it's on the other side of town.

They’ve actually got a direct mil-sub copy: https://www.steinhartwatches.de/en/ocean-vintage-military-new.html

Oh of course, I posted the wrong one!

I keep lusting after a 36mm black bay... are they any good? Where would be the best place to buy one and would Tudor rotate the face 180 to make it a lefty for me?

What are the odds on this being a genuine 1976 watch?
-
• #26487
The seller seems legit.
Isn't there a watch guy in York with a blog who offers an expert 3rd party service?
Ie the seller sends the watch to him, he confirms it aok, you pay the seller, he sends the watch.
Edit : this dude
...although I can't find the bit on his site where he talks about it. Still he's friendly so drop him a msg.

£950 on local gumtree, may be a fair price if genuine - not that I'm buying, nor that I trust it's real.

I'm struggling to find anything not to like about that.
Someone will i'm sure be along shortly to tell me they are only making 1 and it will cost eleventy billion dollars. -

They are making one of each size, either will cost you Eleventy Billion dollars.

But yes, it is quite nice
-
• #26494
Very nice. Interesting to see what it would look like on the bracelet...
From Hodinkee:$2,000 (40mm on leather, rubber, or NATO), $2,200 (40mm on bracelet), $1975 (36mm on leather, rubber, or NATO), $2,175 (36mm on bracelet)

I just remembered that I got to play with one of these while I was in Miami. I have to say that ignoring the price of it, I was very impressed with it for a smartwatch. It looks and feels fantastic and works really well.
If I wanted a smart watch and didn't mind the price, I'd definitely get one.

Aren't they absolutely massive though?
-
• #26497
That depends if you think that 41mm or 45mm is massive or not. Not for me.
My colleague has a 45mm and he's a big lad with big wrists but I didn't feel that it was oversized on my considerably skinnier wrists.
-
• #26498
45mm is ridiculous (imo) but i didn't realise they did a 41mm version. What are the compromises? Taller watch? Less battery life etc?
I guess i could just fucking google it... :)

colleague at work has one, total beaut. I am jealous.

To answer my own question, the 41mm is .55mm thinner, has a smaller battery but the same runtime (allegedly...), double the internal memory, and only a slightly worse pixel count (390x390 vs 400x400) which means a higher ppi.
Impressive...
Coincidentally, I heard Rolex will be releasing a Steinhart homage at Baselworld this year ;)
