The way it's clamped with two bolts in the frame?
Looks suspiciously like an SMG frame

kuwahara ishiwata 022 bike that will soon be converted to 105 1x10.
It has 105 parts, tange 66s headset, mundial cranks, miche hubs on ç20 rims. All parts are original Japanese.
Struggling to find anything and everyone seems to point to a trek but I don't see it.

Think I had a chat with you about that on reddit, still set on a respray?

Oshit. Busted!
Hmm, well the frame cleaned up a bit better than I thought it would however where the previous rider peaked the decals the paintwork underneath has suffered. I am tempted to try and cover it up with a decal BUT they use non matching touchup paint. The areas they baddly touched up are a bit lumpy bumpy.
Needles to say, it is low on the list right now.

Dear LFGSS peoples,
I need your help identifying this frame. I am curious if it is an genuine eddy merckx or not.
I searched for Eddy Merckx pista elite and aluminium gara pista(they are the closest to this frame). Because of the chainstays i dont think it is genuine (they dont match). Their is also no sign of an eddy merckx stamp on the frame, bottom bracket shell or dropouts. The frame number is K3160. The logo on the carbon fork is a sticker and not painted or covered with clear paint. The bottombracket is italian sized (70mm). Allthough it is for sale for €140. And the size is perfect so i think ill buy anyhow, even if it is a fake.
Would be great if someone knows what kind of frame it is. If you need more info ask!
Thanks for your help.
Kind regards,
Lenn

Looking to sell these but want to ensure accuracy in listing. Any aficionados able to exactly identity these. I believe they're Chorus around 94 but sure someone will be able to confirm.
Cheers

I've a 9 speed Campagnolo Cassette that I can't identify, it doesnt seem to match what info I can dig up online.
Its a 12-25 all steel, the largest cog sets are all in groups of two and the smallest individual, e.g. from 12 to 25 it goes in sets of 1-1-1-2-2-2.
All I can dig up on Google suggests the 9 speed cassettes are either all individual on the low end e.g. Veloce (1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1) or at the high end with two groups of 2 and 3 (1-1-1-1-2-3).
So I've no idea what it is I have.

Yes, '94 Chorus.
Anything without the groupset name on it is earlier than 1995.
In 1993 Chorus had Monoplaners.
In 1994 only Record and Chorus had dual-pivot brakes and Record had hidden pivot bolts.

Hello
Could you help me work out what this frame is?
I don't think I'm ever going to ride fixed so would like sell it on, I just have no idea what it is and it'd be nice to know what to ask for.
The top tube and right hand chain stay have dents too, are these going to be a problem in terms of safety?
Thanks in advance for helping this clueless man out

Here are the dents.
Also, it's drilled for a rear brake but the thread is vertical.
Is there some kind of adapter for fitting a rear brake to the frame? Thanks!

Is that a crease in the top tube dent, or just the light/angle? Either way, they wouldn't concern me.
That's not a brake mount, it's a mudguard mount. Slightly curious that this has been built as a road bike (bottle cage mounts, mudguard mounts and a pump pip), but no rear brake.
Not knowing what the tubing is or who made it, limits what you could get a little. What diameter is the seat post? Are the fork and track ends branded? These will give you a clue as to the quality.
As it is, I'd say somewhere between £100 and £200: 27.2mm seatpost and Campagnolo ends (for example) would push it towards the upper limit; 26.4mm post and unbranded ends towards the lower.

Hey
Thanks for that, the more I look at it the more I like it.Yeah, the top tube dent is creased. I was trying to show the dent at it's worst.
The rear dropouts are unbranded. The fork ends seem to have 'GIPI' written on them (see photo) Seat post is roughly 27mm, I don't have a caliper to get an accurate measurement.
The seat post it comes with looks pretty mean..Would there be any way to fit a rear brake and a rear hanger?
I know that sounds silly...

‘Gipiemme’

That's not great, but the dent is less than half the diameter of the tube so it wouldn't concern me. But it will reduce what you can ask for it.

As suggested above, that'll be Gipiemme. They were a "second tier" Italian manufacturer, ie if Campagnolo are Premier League, Gippy are First Division: good, not great.

Roughly 27mm suggests it's a roughly decent tubeset, which you'd expect with Gippy ends. The post might look mean, but the clamping arrangement is shit. Which isn't to say you can't pass it off for enough to buy a decent one.
Would there be any way to fit a rear brake and a rear hanger?
Yes. You could pay through your nose for a clamp-on brake, which attaches to the seatstays and there are a number of hangers that locate on track ends.
I know that sounds silly...
Yes it does. If you want a bike with gears and a rear brake, buy a frame that takes gears and a rear brake, it will be much easier and almost certainly cheaper in the long run.

Fantastic...as I thought but wasnt 100%. many thanks - Any thoughts as to what would constitute a forum friendly price - they're in exc nick.
Thanks again
That's a Steco rack (Dutch brand). Hollandbikeshop.com probably has it.
