  • So I took some proper photos as Flickr won't let you embed, here they are as attachments.

The bolt on the front Campagnolo brake is bent no time yet to bend it back, so Universal for now. Seems to brake just as well anyway.

Ordered black Benotto tape as I need to retape anyway as I found SR levers yay!

  • Great bike. I also have an early San christabol, no decals, serial number is 152, it would be great to hear if anyone could date it for me. Also just broken forks so would be happy for any leads for replacement

  • Tx :) Changed tape and fixed saddle angle need to take new pics but awful weather :(

I have seen various ciocc forks on eBay. Set a saved search for .com and .co.UK.

Have you pics of yours? :)

  • No pics yet, bike is shamefully dirty after getting caught in a downpour the day forks broke. i'm using the downtime on the bike to strip it down, respray and put on decals.
Hope to post pics as it develops. Currently its metallic red, chrome with white details.Keeping the same colour scheme but going for a metal flake red, a bit more blink. Some may not agree but i think it will look great.

  • Serial number wise...I guess after mine (so '79/'80)...but hard to say what year w/o other info.

You can email Pelizolli world with pics once it's cleaned up. May be better to show original state. Ow, the fork crown is also a dating hint. So a pic of broken fork can help here too, if you want me to have a look.

Late 70s very early 80s before take-over they were nearly all Unicrowns like mine, after that a cast lug with forks brazed in was more common.

  • Would you please let me know what is your frame number?

    Cheers!

  • Hi JWestland

Just trying to get more info on your ciocc to try help myself in identifying my Ciocc San Cristobal that I have bought. I am guessing it’s a 1977/78 year. Could I ask if your chain stays have the words Iper Ciocc decal on it?

  • Yep and the Pelizolli signature too.

You can also use the Columbus decals to get a rough date. The one I have was just made one year so that was handy.

Did you email Pelizolli? He replied to me.

  • Thank you for the reply. I have emailed Pelizzoli and waiting for his reply. I am curious because my frame does not have any decals (besides ciocc) except for the ribbon one which is leading me to date it early 1978 after the championship win (before Nurburgring) before he had designed and produced the decals. By the way, did yours have a serial number?

  • Yep, it's 333 or suchlike, just 3 digits.

The fork lugs are the same on mine. You don't have a Columbus decal so that does t help :)

The bottom bracket of mine is pinned. Look inside and see if you can feel / see pins.

  • Portacatena dropouts, under BB guides, Allen key brakes.... Might be a little later than 78?

  • Mine is 79 and has all that. Ciocc were quite modern for their time :)

  • I'm used to the UK lol, my Carlton Pro from 1983 has guides on the top of the BB :)

  • It could be Italian bikes from the 80s Also had that, ciocc were expensive too!

On the UK frames, wrapover seat stays are a UK classic touch which I like very much.

  • The cables on my Marzano from 1978 also go from below the bottom bracket.

  • Love the colour !
