Why incorrect? They were required by building regs, they're now just 'guidance' but that's only because the fenestration industry (through FENSA) thew a wobbly and DCLG gave in.

I had the opposite - we almost ended up with no trickle vents for our non-opening double glazed windows in the bathroom and toilet. lol.
I'm planning on building up the reveal to the glass with solid timber to give a frameless appearance, which would cover the trickle vents. They all open and have a lockable ventilation position thats 5mm at the bottom. Might end up with vents in the walls too.
