  • Ours is a Victorian terrace maisonette with an 80s extension out the back. The plan is Velfac in the back part and timber double glazed sash in the front. Their pricing was kind of mad. The sales rep got the square meterage wrong the first time around, but offered a grand discount if we paid the deposit within a week. When I pointed it out another few grand disappeared off the total. They appear to just make it up, but we’re getting 6 pretty big windows for £4k in the end which seems good. They’ll give you a quote if you email with sizes.

I also had to catch their incorrect addition of trickle vents on everything.

Sure it’ll be fine when they turn up in 9 weeks... 🤞

Why incorrect? They were required by building regs, they're now just 'guidance' but that's only because the fenestration industry (through FENSA) thew a wobbly and DCLG gave in.

Are you sure you're not going to end up with unwanted condensation?

I had the opposite - we almost ended up with no trickle vents for our non-opening double glazed windows in the bathroom and toilet. lol.

  • I'm planning on building up the reveal to the glass with solid timber to give a frameless appearance, which would cover the trickle vents. They all open and have a lockable ventilation position thats 5mm at the bottom. Might end up with vents in the walls too.
